Aw, man.. You have my sympathies. I can only imagine the hit your insurance is gonna take.. 
Color wouldn't really have mattered in this case since deer are colorblind. Your car could've been blaze orange and that stupid deer still would've jumped in front of you. (Man, they're dumb!)
That said, I'll still second the recommendation to get either a brighter color (maybe Copper Red?
), or at least a darker grey (Metropolitan Grey is very nice) that might be more visible, at least to people. Again, deer will jump in front of anything.
<shrug> Ultimately, the choice is yours and everyone should respect that.
