i hate to ask but..

ive heard that theres a certain banned vendor who has junkyard shortblocks for 500 each if mileage is no concern, but i dont know who. also i wouldnt say...
and youre positive your engine is toast?

well ive already had it in the shops around here twice and the ticking will leave when i get it from the shop then comes back in about 1,000 miles or so.
its the motor, i know for sure.
ive put to much money into it trying to fix it then what the motor is worth to me. id rather stop wating money on the motor in the car and buy a new one.

i can put up a video sometime today of what it sounds like.

i red lined the car two days ago and the motor didnt blow. so idk i just know the shops around here suck ass.

Sounds like a rod or a dropped valve to me. Judgeing by the speed of it its going to be something bottom end related, or a forigen object in one of the cylinders. Its pretty hard to make that call as to what it is via video. Whatever it is its not good..

thats what im saying.. weve had the motor apart 3 times. 2 times at a shop and the last time was me and my friends.
no one ever seen anything wrong with it or anything. hell ive red lined the motor and it didnt blow. i dont know what it is but id rather just drop in another motor...... so i dont feel like ive wasted money on this motor to of bought 3 used motors from junk yards.
i just dont know what way to go with the car.
so i need some help.

For a 626 engine you will have to swap cam gears. You also need to swap your valve cover and coil packs or purchase some 1.8 coil packs and fab a bracket for them. I have heard that the cam senor, crank pulley and crank senor need to be swapped too but I don't think that is correct.

you have to swap valve covers because the 626 in many cases doesn't have a cam angle sensor, so if you swap one, its to get the other.

i believe you do need to - i think the pickups arent compatible and the configuration on the triggers is different. i can try to find the old thread about it. it also depends on the year of 626.

Let me know if you find that thread.

My 626 is an 02, the cam angle sensor ohm checked the same and later Edwin confirmed it was swappable. I haven't looked at the crank pulley or crank sensor yet. If the engine fs is the one in the picture (read: not a file photo) it does have a cam sensor.

the right search here would reveal the absolute answer, but 99+ sounds right to me. I believe changes were made to the FS in the 626 is 99 and 02.
