so i was driving to the MAZDA dealership in NEWARK and a cop pulls me over by OHLONE college and says i failed to yeild to his flashing red lights. i didnt see no red lights?!? then he took my license and stuff and said that if he were to give me a ticket for that, i would have to pay $500. dude.. hella money. so he warned me and gave me a speeding ticket. i wasnt speeding!?! :wtf:.. said i was going 50 in a 35 mph zone...(bang) my first ticket ever.. i think its cause i have a bright yellow car.... man!

contest it.
good luck! You'll be fine. His wife has probably been withholding or something, and he was all angry for no reason (especially from the way you tell it :)

a $500 ticket for failing to yield his flashing red lights? what is this world coming to? I think that cop is extremely (gay)
i say fight the ticket

hm.. yeah the MSP has been giving me a lot of cop scares. i've been pulled over twice, both just warnings, and trailed by cops twice as well.

the first warning was for illegal u-turn, and the second was so he can ask me if i was going to go "racing on the mountain" ^__________^ "no officer, i'm just here to visit a friend. he, uh, lives at the base of the mountain." ;)

if you venture over to the other side of the bay on the 280
a lot then beware the white corvette. I think that cop justs
pulls over the "fast" looking cars. when I was driving that everyday, I saw a lot of the bmws, miatas, porches, vettes,
etc... getting ticketed. he/she is a sneaky little bastid.

So far so good in my ticket magnet yellow MSP, but I am tempting fate without a radar detector.

Sorry to hear about your ticket, but if you really weren't speeding I would fight the ticket too. He didn't ticket you for failing to yield to his lights, he ticketed you for speeding, and if you weren't you should have a good case.

FIght the ticket i can almost bet that the PIG wont show to court date if 1 has been set. if he dont show no ticket!!!!
anytime a cop pulls u over ask to see what his gun read!! then compare out smart a pig, GIVE HIM A DONUT!!!

In most states, officers are not required to lock your speed on a radar display. Asking to see the display just makes that stop more memorable to the officer which isn't good if you later want to take it to court. You want to keep as low of a profile as possible so the officer will have a harder time recalling the events. That's why tickets have a "Notes" area on the back of them, so officers can jot down "cliff notes" about the stop for later use. Just some knowledge I picked up from riding out with cops.

I agree definitely...Plead not guilty & fight it...and about the "notes" the cop writes down, you can request discovery from your local courthouse to get a copy of those notes & any other relevent information (like when was the last time the radar gun was calibrated, etc.)...for s*** like this you don't need a lawyer to do either. Good luck, and let us know how you make out.

if you really want to fight it there are a few things you can do.
1 just show up in court. in sacramento 80 percent of the time sherrifs wont show up.. highway patrol always will tho.
2 if it was a sheriff. normally they dont have radar guns.. does your ticket say an exact speed or about? if it is a exact speed ask to see the maintnence records for the radar gun.. if it says about you can prolly plea it down to something with a low fine and traffic school.
3. always be cooperative with the police and in court. this looks much better on your.. and most of the time the officers wont show up.
good luck. -=)
