I got 42 miles per gallon this weekend

Drove from Atlanta to Lake Oconee and back this weekend. Stayed below 3000 so as not to engage the turbo and kept around 60 mph. I had a 200 lb passenger.

I got 41.997 mpg. Pretty amazing! My last trip there I got 39 mpg. driving the same speed.

I know some of you are going to scoff at this but I've made this drive twice and I've gotten pretty much the same results.

Has anybody else had these resluts?

By the way, around town I only get around 20 mpg.

2008.5 sport.

Nice numbers. But there's no way I could stay at 60mph for a road trip. I'm usually going 80 or more.

yeah i got around 30mpg going 80-90 and a few runs to 130 lol. on my drive back from Ohio to FL

The best I have seen out of my car was 30.5 on the way TO the TOD. We locked them down at 70 and just took our time. Otherwise highway (to and from work everyday 60 miles round trip) I average 26-28.

I find the 42mpg questionable. Not going to point my finger and yell LIAR, but it's much, much higher than I have observed myself, and higher than anyone else has claimed. I once did a long run @ 45mph down the US1 bridges in the keys, I achieved 34mpg which is the best I have ever managed to get. Was your trip mostly downhill by chance?

So far I think my best MPG was 28 going to Cincy from Louisville, about 75 the whole way.

+1

The highest I have ever calculated was 30.74 MPG to date, and that was in Florida. It was pretty darn flat going around 70 MPH. Going around 65, it got hardly any better, so I doubt 60 would give you 10 MPG difference. I average around town and highway driving about 25-29 and that's with me calculating ever time I fill up (anal like that).

I wish I could get anywhere near that high. We are driving down to Baton Rouge in about a month so I guess we'll find out then... But no way I'm staying at 60, and I'll have at least 2 passengers if not 3.

I don't normally drive that slow. I only did it as a test to see what kind of mileage I could get. After I saw that mileage, I hooted and then drove 80 mph the rest of the way home.

At 2000 miles I average about 20-22 mpg. Mostly city driving. Shifting anywhere between 2500 and 4500 rpm :)

Paylew, I drove from Baton Rouge to Mountain Home, AR last year. It was a pretty pleasent little 9-10 hour drive. This was in my wife's old 3i sedan though. Would be much more fun in the MS3! (drive)(five-0)

ROFL. (five-0) FTL. We'll have a radar in the car hopefully by then. Mountain Home is like 2 or 3 hours from me (in Little Rock) so it won't be bad. Plus, once we get back we'll have our "project car" running so I don't have to share my MS3!

Man.... i just got 17.75mpg on my last tank. I'm at a little over 500 on the odo, and I was trying to take it easy, breaking the car in and all.

WHA HAPPEN?

I feel your pain! I get pretty much the same mpgs as you're getting. I do only city driving though, on the road I've done 25 mpg in a rather carefree fashion.

City driving can be so stressful!!

Driving like that at 60mph the most i got was 32mpg. But when i added
8 ounces of Acetone to a full tank i got about 40mpg.
Are you sure you did not use an additive of some sort.

100% Acetone keeps the gas from evaporating as fast and therefore
prolonging the life of the gas.

I once got 32mpg in my wife 05 Honda Pilot on a long trip at 80mph with
6 passengers and the a/c on 100% of the time using 10 ounces per tankful.

I have never heard of using Acetone. Isn't that kind of hard on the fuel system?
