Hey guys

I finally decided to purchase an Xbox 360 The Halo edition(I know where have I been right :P), because of the extra stuff it comes with like the HDMI core which helps cool the system. The Wireless headset and so on and so forth.

Anyways I need help deciding on something, the way my living conditions is structured My computer is downstairs. my room is upstairs, and I cannot run a Cat5 cable from my room to downstairs where the cable connection is.

I need help where can I find a deal on a Dependable 802.11b/G wireless router, and a Wireless Adapter for the Xbox360. Do I have to buy that Xbox360 Adapter that crap is like $100.00 and I heard it's not dependable on a G line...

I love some of you guys ^_^ thanks.....

I did not want to pay for the wireless adapter either so I used an existing wireless router and bought a cheap bridge to connect it up and it works perfectly.

How does that work? what to buy?
I'm too poor for a 100 dollar adaptor, and my kid will attack a cable if i stretch it across the room to the router.

i've heard of that, elaborate please?

Sure. Basically what happens is you have your original wireless router that is hooked up to your DSL or Cable modem. Once you set this up to broadcast a secure wireless signal you can then setup your wireless bridge. This is like the one that I bought. You basically plug that into your original router with an Ethernet cable, configure it to be in bridge mode, give it your wireless routers information (SSID and security information) and then you can move it to the desired location. It basically acts as an extender for your network. You can plug in your x360, computer, etc. into it via Ethernet cable and it will transmit the information to your other router via wireless. It was a little tricky to get setup but it is nice if you have more than one device that you want to network.

EDIT: I guess I should mention that I put DD-WRT on the Buffalo router and not using the stock firmware. I am not sure how much this is going to affect your results as I never used it without DD-WRT on it.
