One thing I know for sure, when the car hits my showroom floor (if they aren't sold before they get there) NOBODY will be able to say that I exagerated about the paint quality (or anything else.)

I saw it in person this week-end at a big car show, I actually had a hard time believing it was factory paint. It's just awesome. Just hope it is better quality than my P5...

ours are not suppose to be any over msrp price

Amen to that Colin. Also, stopped by the Cerritos Mazda Dealer and picked up 1st brochure on the MSP. Great picture of a black one!! Interior shot looks just like P5's, except for color and fabric shcemes. Otherwise, the same. Having sat in one, it felt similiar to the P5 with the exception of firmer front seat side bolsters. Also picked up a dealer only newsletter handout that had a comparison feature ("grille to grille" - MSP vs. Ford SVT and Honda Si). More specific information from Mazda Corporate office. I don't have it now, but I'll post quotes from it later. Later.

SEE FUEL SCAN on subsequent thread.

I have a question for the well informed here... Has anyone seen or know what color the dash glows at night? Any pictures???

Yea I noticed that the color is a white with black lettering and red nettles. I was just wondering if it would glow red/blue/green/orange???

If like today's P5, it's a red hue. My question is: If the spicy orange has orange titching, will the black mica models have black stitching? Anyone?

Power- less overall than WRX
Shifting- tighter than WRX (before the Kartboy shifter mod.)
Turbo power- MSP has less power but its more consistant, less peaky, less laggy.
Miles on car- a few hundred but not fully broken in I'd bet.
Sound- quietly rumbly at idle with a nice mellow gerbert as you romp through the rpms.
Stereo- 10 times better than the piece of crap in the WRX! Maybe a hundred times better. This car has a real stereo with range and bump. It was designed to inspire the young tuner crowd while the ICE in the WRX might as well be a boombox velcroed to the dash. Six disc is no big deal if it sounds like crap. I listen to it in town but out on the road, I turn it off and listen to the music of the boxer and the wheezer. If you open up the intake and exhaust on the WRX it makes the most lovely sounds when stomped through the gears.
I'm sure the MSP would sound great opened up a bit but it would sound different from the boxer, maybe not better or worse just different.
Throttle response- better by far at lower RPMs than the WRX, worse by a good margin at higher RPMs but don't forget the three other dudes I had for ballast!
I've never crammed that many pounds of pork into my go cart and hammered.
Hope that helps...
Brakes- not touchy at all. Strong with great modulation. Again, I tried them with a full load of guys and they were strong. Maybe they would have been touchier without all the people.
Color- impossible to do justice with words, just the a photo can't do justice!
This paint is deep like a show car old fashioned layer upon layer laquer job!
Black- almost color changing as you view it from different angles. Black with silver sheen sort of metal flecks. Like a black girl with silver shimmer makeup.. well, not really but that's an image that poped into my head.
Orange- goes from orange with silver flakes to orange with a yellow shimmer to orange with gold shimmer and back and forth all day.
One thing I know for sure, when the car hits my showroom floor (if they aren't sold before they get there) NOBODY will be able to say that I exagerated about the paint quality (or anything else.)

yah.... great review... but uhh.... dont you sell these things?.... just thought i'd throw that fact out there.... because at tunerfest two weeks ago i got to see one of these... an orange one... and the quality of the paint is GREAT...... however... im not sure if they could have picked a much uglier color... the theory on those paint jobs is amazing... they just didnt put it all together as well as i would have liked to see... i dont know how to explain it... but the orange just looked... well.. kinda pale... not "spicy" like the name implies.... maybe the shimmering flecks are supposed to be the "spice"... but either way... its almost like the same tone as a flat pinkish color, but w/ orange hues rather than pink.. i dont know how to explain... it was just not a very pleasant color... the 8 or so other ppl i went to the show w/ agreed w/ me on this point, and i overheard a few other conversations discussing how "****** up looking that color is"... i dont know.. to each his own... whatever floats your boat, and all that jazz... but in my opinion... they could have done a better job w/ the color.... the black is pretty damn clean though

Yes, I'm biased...

You're right.
I will be selling these cars and so, of course, I would be a dope to write that the color is ugly if it was but I would if it was.
I gave my honest opinion however for several reasons:
1) I'm not smart enough to remember everthing I say or write so my method for the sake of consistancy is to speak the truth.
2) The odds of selling an MSP to people who read this posting seem very slim since they're worldwide and I imagine they would buy from a local source.
C) I like the color and I can't help it. I also like that baby poop brown that Porsche had in the '70s.
If you look at what I wrote, I didn't say the MSP would run a faster 0 to 60 than a WRX or flew nicely when fitted with the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang optional wing kit.
Color is a matter of taste and cannot be measured with a ruler or timed for performance.
As sales people, we can work with prices and payments but we can't account for people tastes.
Lucky for you, you can also get it in black.
Wouldn't it be boring if everyone had the same taste in colors?

oh i agree 100%.... i wasn't saying that you were trying to convice ppl to buy them... i was just mentioning the fact that you may be just a LITTLE partial :)

and yes, the world would be boring if everyone had the same taste in colors... well that is.. unless the colors everyone liked were limited edition and i was one of the lucky few to get it ;) ... kinda like the mp3 laser mica blue i guess.... that was almost a universal "everyone likes it" color... i dont think i heard any bad comments about the blue.... the orange is just more controversial.. "weirder"...

I don't remember...

I saw the black but I don't remember seeing any stitching.
I was a bit overwhelmed by all the cool stuff I saw.
Several MSPs, a MP3, the new "6."
Sorry..

did U say you saw a black one? did it have black stitching?

naww... didnt see a black one.. i was just saying that the black looks alot better IMO... havent seen one in person yet... but from pix it looks "sleeker"... more refined i guess.. not as much like a toy :) although thats part of the reason i LOVE my blue mp3.. even in person.. it almost looks like a toy/cartoon/caricature.... i dont know how to explain it.. it just looks "animated" i guess... sporty...

oh yah.. and to answer your question... as far as i know... the black ones wont have the orange stitching... so im assuming they would be smart enought to go w/ black

Thank you gentlemen. I'd hate to think they'd use yellow, purple, or pink stitching on the black msp. WREX, what makes you think that those who read this thread aren't interested in buying an msp? Seems that those who read this thread are in local.

Well,

It's not that I think readers won't buy the MSP.
It's that I don't think the odds are good that people reading these postings are going to come to Phoenix to buy one.
Most of the folks I see on here are from CA, NY, FL and Canada.
I could be wrong but I didn't make these comments to sell the car.
My motives are mostly based on my interest in the car.
I look at the Subaru sites as well because I love the cars even though I don't sell them. I look at www.nordicaudi.com all the time 'cause they have great video clips and I don't own or sell Audi.
I posted my original review of the car because I thought people would be interested in the fact that I got to drive it before the general public.
I loved the car.
It handled way better than my WRX did stock.
I've spent thousands to upgrade the handling of my WRX so I was duly impressed when I hopped in a stock car with inspiring handling right off the showroom floor.
By all means, if somebody from these forums wants to buy one, I'll be happy but that wasn't my original reason for logging on.

I'll trust your integrity with truth to your word.
Heck, I'd drive out to Phoenix to visit the In-Laws in Chandler to buy a black msp if the local dealer doesn't come thru and you have one to sell (at MSRP of course).

Hey wrex, I'm in Phoenix, working with Mazda of Scottsdale right now. Where are you?
