I did it! I gave up!

now in all honesty. how proud of an owner are you of your new scooby? i mean if they weren't a dime a dozen i could see where your coming from but they are. are you going to go out and cruise around trying to show off and impress people with your new car? how many people are going to come up to you and ask oh what color is that and what kind of suspension and wheels are those? then again you could be a first time new car owner and just be tickled pink you got a loan or something. ehhh well. have fun 4-wheeling it in the snow.

Quitter is right. RS 2.5s are nothing. I can't believe you'd pass up a MSP for a 2.5.. aaaagh.. heart breaking.

mazdaspeed is a TURBOO car hence

Mazdaspeed=easy modding

I like scuby's dont get me wrong. But damn why didnt you get the WRX:( That car is so easy to mod and the mazdaspeed will be so easy to mod as well because of the turbos.

With that aside, Congradulations on your purchase. Suby's are great cars:)

I was gonna wait...I Was gonna get one, but I Was sick and tired of the mazda dealerships giving me BS...

I phoned one the other day, they gave me around 30K as the MSRP (before PDI and Taxes) Canadian. Their estimate was atleast 28 thousand canadian.

So I went with a 2003 Sentra Ser Spec V...great car, love it, it's just slightly faster than a MSP. Maybe I should of waited for the MSP, because it handles better.

But I gess the advantages are, I got my Spec V for an awsome deal, and the Spec V has a sunroof :D...and for me the most important thing...NA power potential :D and lobs of low end torque

IF you read the edmunds.com reviews the Spec V got first place in the reviews. Even though the 2002s had problems, everything has been fixed for 2003, the shifting, the ratios, the seats, paint, EVERYTHING, it's an awsome car. (BTW I don't care about the puny Audio in either cars...I'm replacing them with a MD deck and JL speakers)

The diffrence of the price of my Spec V and the MSP to me wasn't worth it, and the wait definetly wasn't.

For the price diffrence on the Spec V to the MSP I could...Buy coilovers, intake, new tires and rims, and a new deck (atleast)
This would make my spec v > than the MSP :D

But to all you who are getting the MSP congrats, have fun with your car :)

not to piss on your cheerio's here but were still talking about a 4 banger here. your not going to get any amount of neck snapping torque out of that

And its lackikng a turbo, which really does not give you the ease of upgradabilty as the MSP, however the spec v is a nice car but the MSP is faster in the 1/4 adn 0-60. Add a frontmount, downpipe, exhaust and it will be considerably faster than the spec v could ever be reasonably on NA.

Still puts out more torque than the MSP :p

180 lb-ft :D

At the wheels it's about 160 lb-ft

Then the abes header adds 12 whp and 10 lb-ft
intake is about 7-7
exhaust is about good for another 10 or so each

Basic bolt ons on a large engine (for a 4 banger) = massive power increases. I figure if I go all NA, (with every NA mod possible) I could hit the low-mid 12s.

acctually as I have STATED before yes the MSP is better in 0-60 but it's just slightly slower in the 1/4 mile. My friend has taken both of em out to a track, and he got like slightly better results in a spec v (like .1-.2 seconds) but those times can be made up purely by the driver :p

But still...the one thing that does clearly bug me about the Mazda speed is NO SUNROOF ^$@)%@)*%$@)* how do you not get a sun roof in a car like that ><

And besides...I can always add a turbo kit :) Forced induction racing has one that'll put the Spec V to 275 whp on stock internals, stock drive train, clutch and tranny....we're just waiting for long term results...(and I don't want to mod until warrenty is over) and probally by the time my warrney is over...I'll have enougn money saved up, I'll just trade in my spec, and find a better car.

The thing that hurts the Spec the most, espically when you mod it, is the low 6200 rev limiter >< Stock...it doesn't produce much more power over 6000 rpm anyways..but when you add an intake...you can feel the power still rushing >< an ECU fix will hopefully bump that a few hundred RPM more.

rs instead of MSP? wooops!
spec v instead of MSP? good deal!

until the MSP came along I thought the spec v was hands down the best buy on the market, and I guess i still think its a better deal than an MSP. just an awesome car. really awesome.

have fun with it!
as for the 2.5rs, maybe you can use some of the money you saved to buy a box of tissues for when you see a MSP on the road in a cple weeks......:)

I've seen your handle somewhere...are you on the mx6 boards? I used to really really really want an MX6 til my parents kinda decided to buy me a new car :D

I've waited 5 months for my spec v, I got an awsome deal on it, and like 1000 more on the trade in than it was worth :)

It was like around 23,000 Canadian, before taxes, with PDI, before trade in, and fully loaded, including winter rims and tires :) I don't think the MSP could even be to be a good as a deal I got (I was lucky, the dealer kinda screwed up, and my car was sent 2 months later than it SHOULD OF) hehehee :)

Do you know how to post properly?

do I care about a 500 horsepower protege? DO YOU own it?...nuff said.

Stock block..oooo....how bout clutch, tranny, rods, and pistons, I bet you those arn't stock.

And how many people are ACCTUALLY gonna build a 500 horsepower protege...if I was going to build a 500 horsepower machine..I'd get a mustang.

it's like the 1300 horsepower Nissan Skyline...who needs it?

275 to the wheels on stock internals, and just the turbo is good enough.

If I get a better pipe I'd probally do better...I could probally easily build a 500 horsepower spec v...hell nissan has built a 280 horsepower Spec V, on STOCK internals and NA, without a turbo. Face it...the MSP is a good car...but it's wierd they needed a turbo to even make 170 horsepower...

don't diss my car because you're jealous.
This isn't going out to the real car entuasists here who respect all cars.
(only to colin)
[edit]is that drag protege EVEN Street legal?[/edit] exactly :)

boy you got everybody now, were all jelous of your car. just like i'm sure everybody is jelous of my 88' RX-7 which by the way could put out upwards of 600 RWHP on its stock block with a turbo upgrade. am i going to turn it into that? nope. but not to anger anybody here but it would beet a better portion of the cars everybody has.

hehe..I edited my last post...it was a scaristic comment...I'm sooooo jealous of my friend's RX7 though it's putting like 350 to the rear wheels without breaking a sweat ><

But yea...I was only refeering to colin who used a very bad example espcially when that link points right back to this thread -.-;;

I respect all cars, it seems Colin doesn't.
each to his own.

Sorry if I insulted anyone.
