I did it again!

I keep finding viable RX-8s, but really can't do much about it unless it is local and at a dealer that I can trade the MSM in at. I am headed to Summit Point this weekend, the biggest track event of the summer that is at that track. Will just be there to help a friend competing in Time Attack, won't be out on track myself, but I'm going to have For Sale signs up on the MSM. Usually is 10,000+ people at the event, various levels of racers, spectators, etc... so hoping I get some bites.

I hate my brain sometimes.

I keep getting bites of interest on it, but the lien is the big turn-off. I expected this. Doing some math, I could, in theory, pay it off far enough in 2 weeks with recovered mod cash + quarterly bonus to get a clean title on it by converting the remaining loan to a personal / signature loan.

However, if I didn't have a car payment on it, I'd be inclined to keep it! It costs next to nothing to own after all. I still want an RX-8 again, though I have a 2 car limit where we live now. If I keep it, I'd also re-buy a Hydra, Crossflow, and SPAL fans, making the recent reversion a larger waste of money than it already is, though no longer wasting money on the 3.63 gearing somewhat offsets that.

I don't love it, but if it's paid off I don't see much of a reason to sell it. If it's not paid off, I will keep dealing with the trouble of finding a buyer.

I found a little red hat...

There are some minor paint issues, but for $750, it was worth it. It will be getting wrapped in some sort of black. Flat, gloss, satin, carbon..... I don't know that yet.

Yeah, I want an RX-8 still. Just I don't think I'm going to be finding a buyer before spring at this point (both due to general market for convertibles plus that's when it will be paid off). I could trade it in at a dealer, but I'd be losing ~$3,000 minimum doing that and I just haven't been able to reconcile myself to it.

So some stuff going on to make it more livable until then. Who knows. With how my mind works, I may find plenty of reason to keep it come spring.

VMaxx coilovers going in. Working via wifi from the shop's showroom floor. Will be on the dyno for tuning in a couple hours.

Coilovers on and corner balanced. 2,590lbs with spare tire, hard top, roll bar, full tank, and no driver. 50.8% cross weight with me in it.

Alignment next, then test drive, then on to the tuning.

Suspension feels sssoooooo much better. A bit on the darty side but so much more capable and rides better to boot.

Tuning stopped at 10psi, due to an initial spike to 12psi for 300rpm or so. I don't feel comfortable moving higher. Landed at a knock free 197wtq, 202whp at 10psi. Dynapack. Chart will be up in a few hours. I like the curves

Nice! I can't say I'm surprised by the spike. I had issues with my old turbo and spikes / bleeds. That internal waste gate is a bit of a POS when it comes to pressures 10 psi and up.

As of a few days ago, no, I won't be able to make it. My wife is going in for surgery the day before to remove a cyst that has basically taken over one of her ovaries and is now about 4"x3.5"x3". We have known the surgery was coming, and it landed on the 26th. They expect her to be kept overnight at least one night.
