the thing i think mazda is failing to realize is that people would be happy with just a DATE. thats all we need, is a solid, secure DAY. at least that would make me happy, and thats all i need. if they said, you know what, you can go to ur dealer November 29th and pick up a MSP, i wouldnt care, as long as the date stuck.

ALL WE NEED IS A DATE DAMNIT...

*starts to look at used car classifieds*

Exactly! Stupid Mazda.:p

For the ppl thinking of getting the WRX, go for a test drive. I'm pretty confident that you'll totally forget about the MSP.:D

driven one...or about 5....love the speed of this vehicle...awd....major thing holding me back...IMO it's the "ricer" car to have right now. in my town everyone has one. also if i got one..would have to do system....rims...suspension...most likely asthetic body mods...to get this car to my liking. the MSP is pretty much done up from the factory. plus the MSP costs about 2500-3500 less. yeah it's slower..but way more exclusive

i did the wrx/msp thing a cple months ago and that was my same conclusion......although i have never driven a wrx.

Rice? Please!

well rice is the wrong word..but it's definately to my eyes the "trendy" car to have right now...2.5-3 yrs ago..IMO it was the si..now it's the wrx

Ugh come on, the WRX? It's fast and happy and all but jeebus, I drive my mom's and it feels like a bloody tank. Compared to the MP3 (and the MSP is obviously gonna seat you the same) the WRX makes me feel like I'm on a booster seat or something. I can't get comfortable like I can in the MP3. And considering the RS2.5 over the MSP?? Okay, so you get AWD.. SO WHAT? You're going to get the same mediocre interior as the WRX, one FAR inferior to anything the MSP will offer, and no turbo! I just don't see how you can compare the RS and the MSP at all! It's frustrating seeing all of this.. I had several chances to sell my car and go for something that would potentially be faster, including an RX-7 or a crotch rocket, among other things, and I passed everything up because I knew my car was limited edition and when you think about it, it's amazing.. 1500 made! That's just.. an INCREDIBLE thing.. I consider myself SO lucky to be able to have one.. and if the MSP is going to be equally rare.. not to mention a great, fast car.. HAVE A LITTLE FAITH.. I know Mazda's being pretty stupid right now, but.. Slug420 was right, when you're in your ITR or RS or WRX or whatever, and you see the MSP on the road -- the bitchin' little car you KNOW it's gonna be, hooked up and decked out by someone ELSE.. you're gonna be kicking yourself.

Arg, sorry. Early morning lack of sleep rant. (rant)(sleep)(bang)

someone should start a new forum on this board called "rice" and whenever there is a post with the word rice in it, the post is automatically moved to the rice forum. that way anyone who cares to involve themselves in the debate over "to rice or not to rice, that is the question" can go there and bicker over WTF rice means and whether or not its even a bad thing, meanwhile the rest of us can sit here in our "normal" forums carrying on civilized conversations having realized long ago, that all of us driving japanese cars, we are all RICE............

ok, im done now....

I guess it's all about location.

Where I'm from, there's hardly any WRX's around. The only time you'll see 2 blue ones at the same time is in my neighbourhood. My uncle has the sedan, and I have the wagon.:)

To each their own I guess. My g/f and myself happen to love the WRX a whole lot more than when we first got the P5. The seats are very supportive, have you seen the size of those bolsters?:) In the P5, I'd move around all the time.

I'd hardly call the Mazdaspeed rare. I thought the MP3 would be a one time deal, then comes along the MSP. Once again, I thought the MSP would be a one time deal again, but nope.

2.5????

If you can't hold out for what you really want (MSP), I hope you drive the WRX before you settle for the 2.5.
I've driven all three and the MSP kicks the 2.5 to the curb unless you live in the snow...
WRX kicks the MSPs butt unless you want awesome paint, killer stereo and exclusivity...

hey wrex, how much of a difference is the mazdaspeed, from the wrx, can you here the turbo good in the speed, cause i know the wrx has a slincer, and what about the power? 152whp compared to 178 what does it feel like.?

i hear ya! me too :)

i wasnt tryin to shoot down your question, just lettin ya kno in case u missed it....

I test drove a wrx ... the power is awesome, almost scary, but with humungous turbo lag. You put your foot down and its nothing, nothing, nothing ....BOOM. Timing a decent gear shift will take practise. The problem was the longer I was around the car, the more I couldn't help feeling ... this isn't a pretty car. Medium looks outside; thin, tinny doors; bad stereo, cheap looking interior; this one had these small, cheap extra gauges stuck high in the middle of the dash where you couldn't hope to see them, a $900 (Cdn) option!!. Its like to keep costs down they cut back on anything that wasn't tied to the performance.
Fun to drive? ... definitely
Would I rent one and flog the hell out of it? .... for sure
Would I want to look at that car and dash for the next 5 years of my life? .... no way ..............................wait for the msp, you won't regret it.

xklusivity

The first gen MSP is going to very exclusive.
Rumor has it that the MSP gets a facelift in 2003.5.
My dealership will get three of each(some day.)
Those getting the first run of 2003s will always be an elite group because "they say" the body will change for 2003.5.

Dpmsp is right!

Very truthful review of the WRX!
The interior and stereo are s**** compared to the MSP.
The turbo lag can be greatly reduced by slapping a Stromung exhaust on and modifying the intake though.

2003.5 msp is not a rumor. officially announced at mazdaspeed website and at SEMA in Vegas. Still waitin' for 1st msp here next to NMAO...stopped by on the 7th with no word yet as of release date. I knew more about where they're at (Port Hueneme or Oxnard for assembly) and why the delay (Callaway parts) than Fleet salespeople... thanks, of course, to this site.

:wtf:

I test drove a Spec V today and was surprised at it's power. If I didn't want to wait for the MSP at might look at getting one. I like the MSP much better because of the aftermarket parts and because of the somewhat limited edition. If I find out that I have to wait two more months, then I might get a Spec V. Let's hope that isn't the case. My dealer still doesn't know sh*t though.

I hope you arn't talking about the Aftermarket parts that are out :p Cuz I know the Spec has more...but you're probally talking about the aftermarket parts that are already on the car...yea and having it limited too is another factor.

if you do end up getting a Spec...they can be had for good prices...Like I stated before I got mine for around $23, 500 (can't remember exactly) but that was before taxes, and it included winter tires and rims (I guess cuz my car came 2 months late and it was ALSO the wrong colour, so my dealership owed me BIG time)

Oh yea, it had the sports package, the audio, the alarm, sunroof, etc.

I need to change my speakers and deck so bad. Trust me, if the MSP has the same system as on the Mp3, I won't be that impressed, for a stock system, it's good very good...for aftermarket it sucks.
