Hmm thanx will look around, They are pre loaded correct? All you have to do is plug in your mods? Also is it easy to go back to stock.. IE if something happens I can take the car back to the dealer?

It comes preloaded, but Hypertech had released an update to support aftermarket cold air intakes, so I went to the web and updated using thier update software. Very easy.

The only "Mods" selction it has is for cold air intakes. if you are using an aftermarket intake you say yes, and then pick from a list.

The device stores the stock tune so you can return to stock if you want to stop using the device, or need to go to the stealership for service.

Ok cool thanx, Just jumped off the bridge and bought this. You have the Cobb SRI right? what did you pick for it on the tuner? OVN shipping so I should see this tomorrow. :)

I have the Cobb SRI and a PG TIP so I chose what I thought was closest - The Corksport SRI (it comes with a TIP).

Put me to ease about this, From Chris.. Been very helpful so far. A+

Here's the basics on how it works:

The Max Energy Sport is a programmer. It plugs into the diagnostic port, and reflashes the car's ECU with the Hypertech tuning files. It stores a copy of the stock calibration files for that vehicle, so that it can be returned to stock at any time. The programmer doesn't stay plugged in, and doesn't have any PID monitoring functions. It will read and clear DTC's. It has options to raise the top speed limiter, and raise or lower the engine rev limiter.

Every product that Hypertech sells is 50-state emission legal. The tuning for the Mazda vehicles is currently pending CARB certification, and will be 50 state legal when the certification procedure is complete. All of our products are designed to work in the limits of the vehicle as designed by the OEM. Our tuning will not void your factory warranty, or cause damage to any factory engine, drivetrain, or emission component covered under your factory warranty.

Since we advertise and sell our products to be warranty safe and emission legal, we don't offer any custom tuning options in our programmer.

You do not have to have any knowledge of tuning to use our products.

We leave the boost cut and load cut limiters in place in our tuning to protect the engine from a mechanical failure that may cause destruction if these limiters are removed. With the air mass calculations correctly measured, these limits can be used just like the factory tuning uses them.

Thanks.

Chris

so honestly...what is the difference between this and cobbs tuning device besides the obvious things? not trying to sound ignorant or prove anything...i own an accessport and want to know what the scoop is.

The AP is a true tuning device and if you have the ATR SW or a local tuner that has it, you can customize and adapt to whatever mods you have. The Hypertech unit is a set tune with only options for the CAI you use. You cannot do a custom tune for it.

I was looking for something to give me a nice safe performance boost with my limited mods and the Hypertech worked for me. if I was planning on continuing to mod this car, especillay with aftermarket FMIC, TMIC, down pipe, bigger turbo, etc, then the Cobb might be a better choice.

i have a Cobra habit that I am supporting as well and it gets the majority of my mod money and go fast time. It is custom tuned and gets retuned as I add mods. On my Speed3, I am done with power mods now.

ok...i got what yours saying. so it will give you the maximum amount of tune with your mods if you dont plan on modding the crap out of your car. good for a lot of people on here and in the community.

+1 for why I got it. I'm not going to changing everything under the sun, But wanted a tune that would give me a nice gain and for a good price.. Plus if we can get 285whp nad 330 something( Forget the number) WTQ like the VID on youtube it's well worth it.
Just my .02

Don't forget that the price difference is enough to fund a test pipe. :)

Not everybody wants to mess with their cars constantly. This is a load it and forget it option that will give a nice boost that appears to be safe (time will tell of course).

I am considering this as a tuning option. Are you going to be adding a launch control or flat foot shifting feature to your tune? This is a great feature that I think a lot of people would be interested in.

Just checked my UPS trax and it will be here today!! Not sure if I will install it tonight but will be tomorrow for sure.

Thanx for the spell check guys.. LOL, Wish the made one for my wifes Saab.. The only option for her is to send the ECU OVN for a two day return.. :/
