www.wdsu.com click on katrina live web cast.. my city is on msnbc, damage isnt as severe, but we are above sea level unlike new orleans, the roof is also pealing off the superdome, 3 holes in it, now its been classified as the 3rd strongest..

Its been windy, cool and overcast here since sunday morning, I can't believe its started to carry this far already

good luck for everyone in that area, whet it came to miami it was just a category one hurricane and broke trees, electricity poles, etc....

Stay here just ONE WINTER SEASON, you will understand completly. (sun)

Well since the hurricane season is just now starting and last year it lasted for forever, it looks like a lot of people will still be rebuilding into the winter that doesent sound like a fun winter to me. I mean i live in oregon, and yeah it rains a lot, but the summers are nice, autumn is great, and winter gets a little rainy. But all in all i think it is probably one of the best places to live other then texas.

well a lot of people live there cause its rare that we get a direct hit by a hurricane. I've lived in mississippi for 18 years and never seen anything like this hit us. Florida should be permanently evacuated. but good god, i cant think of anything so bad that i'd move to oregon. We dont want Oregon winters. The south is very different from the rest of the country and its not something you can just give up (well, i'm in baltimore now. but i still claim mississippi)

I know we all have opinions and agree with Texas being one of the best places to live, but Oregon. That would have to be one of the worst place to live. Winters have to be awful. At least for me, that will be awful. I HATE winter, I HATE snow, and definitely HATE cold weather. I live in MD and I will NEVER move north of this state. I don't mean to change the topic, but I would choose FL over OR instanly without second guessing it. But of course thats only my opinion. I just despise being cold, unless its the AC doing it. I would take Hurricanes over ice/snow storms any day.

Once I graduate college, I'm migrating south permanently...lol TX, GA, FL, etc.

Oregon winters??? WHat winters, it never ever snows here unless you live up by the mountain, i cant remember that last time it actually snowed here, it just rains a little. I can agree with you on the south thing, becuase i love mississippi, and Louisiana, 2 of the coolest places, and good ass food. But where does everyone get all there money to re-build and re-build

My buddy's dad owns one of the first gas stations on the way out of new orleans in the baton rouge direction. He hears most of the stories from police and other relief workers. Supposedly, the devistation is so bad that new orleans had to order thousands of body bags. The city keeps 20,000 body bags on hand at one time and they're running out. That's crazy. The water is so high near the city that they're using the exit and entrance ramps off of the interstate as boat launches in order to save people.
