But, I would still have it if I bought the 17 because I want the other features the $1800 pkg includes. That's why I ask with no response, does a $500 system like Navdy work just as well because if so, then that is a much cheaper and viable option for the OP, considering that's all he wants. Btw, I've driven with it in the 17, and on numerous other occasions long before a cx-5 even existed...
If the only feature you are interested in is the HUD, can always get this http://www.bestbuy.com/site/navdy-portable-head-up-display-device/5715610.p?skuId=5715610. Looks pretty cool. Surprisingly has very good reviews. Still integrated HUD would be better I would assume.

So roughly $300 per item as an average, which seems ok I guess. I don't really need any of the winter stuff that often but maybe someday I'll fire up that heated steering wheel.
As someone who didn't want the Package for the GT, in hindsight, I would have seriously regretted it. The only thing I wanted in this package was the passenger adjustable seats (which is shocking that it's an add-on). However as it now looks like I'll be moving from Atlanta to New England, I'm very glad I have the other options in the package.
All rambling aside, I didn't think I'd like the HUD. I still have some issues with it, but on a long trip, or a trip into the city, having GPS/Speedo visible without looking away is huge. Don't underestimate that. I'd highly recommend you try it out, and make sure to get some highway time with it.

Having seen that in person, it's terrible. It sticks out a lot and looks cheap.
Yeah I see what you mean. Just watched some videos on youtube. Then again, the cx5 still has that huge hump on the dash from the HUD. But at least its stock and flows.

Lol is right. Mitsubishi has fallen so far. It's almost like the parent company wants it to die. They must stick their shittiest and least competent employees into that division.
Definitely worth it for me as I need so the items in the package.

And that's what Mazda are looking at - people wanting the items and willing to pay for it unfortunately (should be standard)
That's okay, you don't have to like it. I agree, its not the most appealing setup but it is what it is. I applaud them for trying and taking a dip into that sector. Next generation should only get smaller.

Gotta start somewhere. Heres another one https://goroav.com/collections/hud. Seems a little smaller. I think most cars will start to have these built in by the time these aftermarket ones become small to the level I would find acceptable but still might be okay some people.
