Looks like they are still selling the Rev D disc which are already obsolete.

I have Revision D, which is labeled 2007 Version 1 with files dated November 2007. Word on these message boards is that Rev E. is shipping in newer cars.

Doesn't sound like they have their act together yet with the latest information or they acting as a clearinghouse for obsolete DVDs.(hand)

mazdaparts.org is selling version E, though it is at a higher price of $259 instead of $199.

The version they are selling on the Denso site seems old, if the version is also the release year. I'd call and see if a newer one is available, since so many sites to a poor job of updating their information.

I emailed them and they said the GP9A 66 DZOE (VERSION 2007.1) is the latest updated disc offered. Also the sight is down again right now.

My Rev D (GP9A 66 DZO D) says "Comment= 2007 ver.1" in the VERSION.TXT file on my DVD.

How could the next revision have the same version info?? Here is a screen capture of my root directory on the DVD.

Denso appears to be very much dense....

Sorry I had the wrong information. Here is the email I received:

Hello Richard,

Thank you for contacting Mazda.

Orders can be placed through www.mazdanavigation.com, however, that site is being updated as of this writing.

My understanding is the latest version for your vehicle will be Part number
GP9A 66 DZ0 F. The one prior to that is GP9A 66 DZ0 E.

I hope you found this information useful.

Again, thank you for contacting Mazda.

Regards,

NAVTEQ MAP YEAR vs. DENSO DVD RELEASE YEAR

My understanding is the NAVTEQ MAP YEAR itself is always(???) a year behind the DENSO DVD RELEASE YEAR. My CX-9 came with 2006 ver.2 in April 2007.
(MAZDA Part No. GP9A 66 DZ0 B)

Only thing on this site is "coming soon"(dunno)

Yeah, I'm underwhelmed. I'm going to find someone who can burn an ISO disk for me. It's ridiculous that there isn't an easy way to get reasonably-priced updates for the nav system

Call me "Old School", but if I'm driving around, say, West Berlin, I don't want to be looking at DVD data from 1940 before the Allies bombed the crap out of the city! I'd rather be looking at something a bit more recent than that, like maybe 6 months out of date MAX!

The site: http://www.mazdanavigation.com is now up and running and you can order disks for $199. A funny thing I noticed in the 'instructions' page:

Navigation DVD Updating Tips

o The map disc cannot be inserted or ejected while the ignition switch is in the OFF position.
o Condensation may form on the optical lens or the map disc inside the unit when the temperature in the vehicle increases in a short time such as when heating the car on a cold day. This condensation may cause malfunctions. If so, unload the map disc and do not operate the unit for approximately 1 hour. Wipe the condensation off the map disc with a soft cloth.
o If the unit does not operate correctly after 1 hour, consult an Authorized Mazda Dealer.
o Do not attempt to copy an original SD card or DVD as this may cause content to erase.

What? I've never heard of trying to copy a DVD and it may erase the DVD? Is this just a scare tactic or is this actually physically possible??

Hi,

Just got my 2009 CX-9, my nav disk says: Mazda part no. GS3M 66 DZ0A
2008 Denso / 2007 Navteq.

Do I have the latest DVD?

Thanks,
Dave

Now that's funny!!!! Scare tactic.

Once a disc is burnt, and the chaptering is closed, there is no way to re-write to a CD or DVD disc.

So, even if you did copy a disc and tried using it, worst case....if they did have some magical DVD re-burner, you've ruinied your "copy" and not the original. Not gonna happen. I have my originals stored in a safe place and copies running in both my CX-7 and CX-9.

Anyone out there have experience with the voice command Nav system in their X9? I realize that the manual most likely will explain how this option works but I was hoping for some input on a user-friendly owners knowledge to help us learn the good, bad and ugly of the system. Thanks

I have never used it. On the couple of occaisons that the nav has locked me out when I'm driving, I've tried to push the voice button and apparently I have no idea what to tell it. I'm too lazy to sit in the car and learn how to use it.
