How To: Wire Tuck/Engine Clean Up

Yah, I read it. It was pretty good. But none of the things they did I think are very possible on are engines. For example they moved the main wire harness that goes over the valve cover under the intake manifold which I don't think would be possible on are engines unless you cut and extended injector wires and wires going to AC

Depends on how in-depth you want to go. I was about to try and relocate it under the manifold, but I found it hard without taking apart the motor. I wasn't about to dedicate myself that much. If your motor is in pieces, I say why not ahha.

I am looking into doing some things tomorrow. I won't be going that crazy but lets see how creative I can get eh? What's a good product to clean the hoses and wire insulation to make them black again? I was just gunna use water and a rag but anything else?

Mmm to get things black, I use something called 'back to black'. I guess people use it on their windshield wipers, trim, etc. I wouldn't suggest armor all because it collects dusts and I have seen it change somethings color.

Water and a rag are good. I sometimes shoot a little simple green, let it soak for couple mins, and just wipe things down. Make sure the motor is cool also, makes it easier to work so you don't burn yourself!

Yea, you talked to me about the simple green stuff. I use it on my engine bay already and cleaned my buddies with it (1993 camry with 160k miles and no sign that it has ever been cleaned in 15 years).

I am almost debating pulling the car in the garage and starting tonight, I love working on my car in the middle of the night. I'm not sure why but it's like all the other cars are asleep and mine is upgrading over-night.

Car is in the garage, moving laptop to the garage next... I could do this in real time lol too bad no webcam, digi cam though

Haha you are nuts. I know what you mean about working late at night... I just hate being super tierd and knowing you still have to shower and all that good stuff. Plus our neighbors grumble if I make too much noise with tools.

I am in the garage with laptop and car is starting to come apart... +1 for being on the car forums while working on my car... god damnit I am crazy. Bumper comming off soon.

Going to get some more electrical tape, hope this forum comes through for me as I am basically planning on living in my garage for many hours and I could use some real time questions answered. brb

Ok. Going to bed now. No work or school tomorrow so lots more progress can be made, the project is comming along well so far.

I am considering removing the Cruise Control and I still have to remove the window whiper bottle. Also alot more cleaning left to do. I ran one rag into the ground with all the dirt I have on it and I have gone through about a roll and a half of electric tape.

I need to get more info from the OP about the sensors on the intake and than I should be done other than the upgrades comming to the engine in the future.

I will be comming right back to the garage when I wake up.

Good luck man. It is time consuming to do. I went thru 4 rolls of electrical tape also haha.
