How to take off the Protege5 badge?

heat up the adhesive with a hair dryer and gently pry it off. there are mounting posts though, so there will be two holes in your hatch.

I just took all mine off to paint them body color and this is what I found. All 3 have two pins that fit into nylon receivers. None are threaded or have a hidden fastener behind the sheetmetal. The "Mazda" signature was just held in place by the pins and receivers. The center "flying M" has the pins, receivers and adhesive. The same is true of the "Protege5" badge. Warming them up (the 2 with the glue) sounds like a good idea. I didn't know about the glue since the first one I pulled was the "Mazda" one. I used a plastic putty knife that I sanded down to be thin and pointy behind the badges and slowly worked them loose. Others have talked about using fishing line to saw the glue away between the metal and the badges. Whatever you do make sure the area is real clean before you start so you don't scratch the paint.

I took mines off with my "BARE NAILS". Kids don't try that at home!!! Cause your nails will hurt for about 3 days. BTW i let the car sit under the sun at 90F for 2 hour before removal.
