How to replace solenoid on Protege5?

Hey everybody,

Based on my research on the forums the Solenoid issue seems pretty common for the 2003 Protege5. The previous owner replaced the Intake runner solenoid (part number AAAkL0118741) but now the computer is throwing a P2009 error code.

I brought it to a mechanic and he says everything is fine and cleared the code, but now the check engine light is on again.

Is there a walk through on how to replace it myself? My understanding from the research is that the part is relatively inexpensive.

Your experience and input is greatly appreciated as always.

Thank you.

Code P2009 is code P1569 in our service manual.

Really cheap and easy to replace.

They are the same valve with different names.

RockAuto doesn't have the specific VICS solenoid valve.

Great. Just to clarify the links you provided will work and it's a simple plug and play or would I need specialize tools?

Thank you very much for taking the time to answer my question.

It's a simple plug & play but sometimes the connectors are kinda stuck.
Make sure you push the clip in to remove the electrical connector.
Don't pull on the wires.

The vacuum tubes can be stuck too.
You can grip them with pliers at the end of the tube and twist a bit to "crack" them free or use a flat head screwdriver to push on them.
Don't pull really hard on the vacuum tubes either.

Those were screenshots I posted.

I will try to post a link...

You should get one of these.

It would be nice to know if you threw the same code...

This one broadcasts to your smartphone.

This one is self-contained.
No blue tooth or wifi needed...
