How to remove "side step molding" for install running board side step nerf bar

I bought this one and the 1st step of installation is removing "side step molding".

Since the weblink from service manual is no longer available, I have no clues how to remove it.
Any help will be great appreciated!

I can't help you on the disassembly but I have another question.

Is that side step functional? What I mean is anyone actually going to be stepping there? Reason I ask is because the photos make it look far to small for my man feet (size 12).

It looks like it would mess with the aerodynamics on the freeway, especially if there was a small cross wind component.

Hi Mike,

I agree with you, the step is pretty small. I don't think it can serve as step function very well. Personally, I install it for look.

step will hold zero weight as it is clipping on, if anyone accidently uses it expect an expensive repair as the plastic panels may rip off and damage their clips requiring to purchase new one.

Thanks for comments, the step has 3 supports(steel) each side and mounts to the body.
