okay, i see these names like tein and corbeau and autoexe... i had no idea how to pronounce them before haha.

i thought tein was Tea-en. come to find out, its Tain (like rain)

and corbeau, i thought was kor-bea-eu. come to find out, its kor-bow

and autoexe, for some odd reason, i thought it was auto E-X-E, but of course, its just auto-x.

anyone have problems with pronouncing brands? i feel like a dumb ass sometimes saying something and then i find out im saying it wrong. alright, have a good day everyone peace - chris

I'm with you man, but I still refuse to pronounce Tein as Tain. Well, until they threaten to take away my springs.

i have no idea what the "i" stands for, but i conclude just saying apex "i" . good question though. oh another thing...

its in-gen right? not, in-hen? (injen)

Not necessarily with just car parts, but with other names too!

Like a band that I listen to:

Dimmu Borgir - I can never remember if the g is supposed to be harsh or not!

And I also thought Tein was exactly that!!!

The other things that boggle me sometimes are:

Sirius - for some reason I want to call it Cyrus.....I know how to read, I just mix it up for some strange reason!
I think it has to do with Osirius...the Egytian god.

Foccaccia bread.....the F word still gets me! Makes me say another f word every now and again! :)

Naproxyn - Damn medical names!!!

Well that is all that I can think of right now... I know that there are a ton more!!!

haha okay good, at least im not the only one struggling :) - chris

Naproxyn - Damn medical names!!!

Naprosyn or Aleive.

That's why they have generic, trade, and chemical names. So the public can remember them easier. Try remembering all the meds with each of thier names, gets rather confusing at times.

Fenytoin vs. phosphenytoin? Same? Dilantin vs. Diltiazem?

Britt

Here's one that may be kinda lame:

Zymol - is it Zye-mol or Zimol?

:D

P.S. Thanks for this thread, now I won't feel like such an ass talking about these brands anymore! :D

Quaiffe?

Qua-fey? Or Quay-ff?

How the hell do you say it? I always think queef...

I've noticed that half the people say "jic" and the other half say "J-I-C"

I wonder which is correct. (dunno)

1/2 of the companies in the car industry have names that are hard to pronounce. I think they do it on purpose so that people remember the name when they agonize over how to pronounce it.

Examples:

Autoexe (I thought the same thing)
TEIN
Mugen
Ruf
5Zigen
basically ALL of the VW tuners

There are a lot more, but that's all I can think of for now.

hmm i say V-i-s. im thinking 5 zee-gan ? idk? hmm - chris
