Hey Guys, I just plugged the holes in my bumper. Pictures and the materials I used to do it below.

I purchased some BODY-TITE! panel trim fasteners from Kragens. These should be available at any auto parts store.

I had to try a couple of sizes before I found one that went in and is removable if I ever want to put a bolt in those holes again, but won't just pop out.

I bought :

"GM UNIVERSAL" Panel/Trim Retainers
part #45890 and they come with 4 in a box.

I didn't take pictures of the process but it's really easy.

Make sure you have some touch-up paint.

Sand the tops of the retainers down with 1000 grit sandpaper, make sure you sand the whole top until there aren't any shiny spots and sand the edges as well because you'll want to paint those too.

After you have sanded the tops, use a SMALL brush to brush on a light coat of touch-up paint. The brush that comes with the touch-up paint is way too big and it will get messy. I used a clamp to hold my retainer so I could paint the top and all around the edges of the button surface.

Let the first coat of paint dry. Sand lightly with 1000 grit sand paper and repeat. Let it dry for about an hour to make sure it sets well.

I repeated this process twice and ended up with three coats of touch-up paint on mine. In my opinion it looks pretty good and is much better then the two holes that were in my bumper before.

When your sure that it's totally dry (let it set overnight) go ahead and just push the trim retainers/buttons into your bumper into the existing holes. It should be a nice snug fit.

I tried the GM Universial plugs, and they wouldn't fit in the holes.

There are a couple of different sizes of GM Universal plugs. This is the second set that I tried. The first ones were too fat for the holes. These are a nice snug fit. It takes some pressure to get them in, but not impossible to take out.

i just finished shaving my bumper, all i have left is to paint it. getting done this weekend. i got rid of the side markers and i filled the license plate holes. only took about 2 hrs including removing the bumper. its is going to look sweet when im done. ill post some pics when its finished and back on. i think im going to black out the headlights while i have the bumber off.

hey jared, thanks for the how to.

I just did this after i relocated my front liscence plate to the bottom grill.

I didnt paint the covers yet as i dont have any touch up paint. Its ok black though since midnight blue is pretty dark already, but ill paint them soon.

I had trouble getting them in, even though i got the exact part number. I think because there was some bumper left over the hole when they drilled it so the extra on the sides of the hole was catching on the plug and not letting it go in. so i cut off some of this excess around the hole and sanded the plug down a wee bit, then they went in nice and snug.

Pics will come soon.

i bought the fat ones also, and i have yet to be able to get my hands on the ones that fit.................

if they are too fat sand'um, thats what i did. and make sure to cut off extra bumper if its there.

I removed the license plate frame and one of the nuts behind the bumper cover came loose (in one of the 2 holes from mounting the license plate frame.) It looks like it was glued on originally. Now I can't push the fastener in, because the nut keeps moving. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix it, I REALLY don't want to have to take the whole bumper off to get at it.

I was thinking this was going to be a 10-minute job

both of the nuts came loose on mine i said fook it...and just went with the filling in with the plastic thingy maggiggys...dunno wat its called?....ill take off the bumper to get them out another day....but by then they will prob fallen off so off to get new ones i go later on down the road
