I don't Know if this How-to is needed but I see that alot of you like to convert you stock dx/lx/es(from some 01s to 03) into the mp3/msp style and have to pay alot for a rebar to make it work

1st I took off the old stock LX bumper that I had(there is how to on removing a mp3 bumper its the same thing)The only reason I don't have a rebar when I took off my bumber is because I was drive for 3 months with a MP3 bumper with no rebar

Then after I put the rebar on for a test fit and put the MP3/MSP bumper on and see where it hits.. Just take a marker and mark where it hits..

Then I make the cuts on both side.. you can use a power saw but becareful because the plastic get really hot and melts so wear some gloves and something for you Eyes so nothing gets in
picture_1315.jpg

Then when you finish cutting it put it on the car and test fit the bumper ... if you made the cut perfect then it should slide on if not take it off and try again

Clean ur rebar and bumper before puting it all together because it any hot plastic is around it could damage ur new bumper
After all is done it should be nice and soild and everything should match up

I hope that helped and I thank you for ur time if you want to ask me anything about this just pm or leave a message here

Thanks,

Yes it would , the reason for this is beause in the middle of the rebar it is the same as a mp3 rebar just the side are flat so the fog holes can fit, so P5, MSP, MP3 and autoexe will fit perfect

I have a P5 grill on my car

Can't really say on measurements because I just cut and tryed till I got it right sorry about that. Next time I have my bumper off I will try to get measurements

some of the pics arent working..could you upload them then repost them, thanks, if i dont have to get a rebar ill save a bunch thanks!

I tryed reloading the Pics they all work for me.... I will be removing the Bumper again to paint the headlights... I will make a better one... I will be doing one on the front auto-exe lip when I get it and I will be doing one on lowing springs on a sedan but I have to wait for April..... (2thumbs)

Ok lets see if this can help all of you guys/girls

What I have here is a birds eys view of the bumper(sorry about my drawing but I am only good on paper) Ok As you can see the rebar is held on by two bolts on each side so that is four bolts altogether. When you make the cut try to get as close to the bolt plate as you can but don't cut it off or cut into it becuz sparks are going to fly. Just cut the way I cut and all should be good but keep pre-fitting the front bumper and cutting intill you get it to line up..**when fitting the bumper after making a cut make sure u clean the area due to hot plastic, you really don't want to get it on ur nice bumper***...When all is good and u got a even line up on the sides and the the front take off the bumper and rebar and clean off any area that u missed.....If u got any question just ask away...

Thanks again for your time,

is the mp3 rebar almost the same or is it like a lot different???Could'nt that be dangerous if you cut off the sides of the rebar like that if you get in an accident??

yeah I guess you are right but the difference between the MP3/MSP/MP5 is where I cut is a small thin plastic so the fog lights can fit . Even if u get into a front accident with a full MP3/MSP/MP5 rebar or a cut one like mine you are going to end up with about the same damage.. I just did this to have a rebar on my car becuz without one I could have been in deep sh*t .Even if I got into a small fender bender I would be screwed. After I made my cuts I did my tests and the rebar was still very strong and felt very soild... but if you guys/girls don't feel safe and are not feeling good about this then don't try this.. and do this at ur own risk. I don't want anyone getting hurt so becarful in what ever you do...

Thanks again for ur time,

Thanks Hollywood for the info ,I completed the install of my P5 bumper on my LX ,it took me 3hrs from start to finish . Now I have to take it all back off as I need to hook up the marker lights and the fog lights . I also want to paint hte rebar flatblack as you can see it behind the lower grill . The bumper looks great .Sorrt no digi cam for pics .
I still dont know if i want to put the skirts on . I kinka like the way it looks with out the skirts ,but that may change .
A word of advice u do need the inner fenderskirts fron the P5 to do this right as well as the under panel . I still need to get these items .

Man I thought this post was dead after the hate mail lol...thats cool... yeah u do need the inner wells but I took a belly pan from a 02 SL 500 and made inserts where there was gaps but thats the ghetto way but I wil be buying them from mazda only $ 66 x 2
