How To: headlight black out for P5!

so I tried to do my clear corners, but it looks like the it is all one piece, not 2 pieces being held together by glue...does anyone knwo where to get black corners for a 00?

oh you have an 00 so it's the two piece with the headlight and the separate corner light. Yeah the corner light is probably plastic welded. There are clear and/or black corners sold for the early 3rd gens, I know I've seen them. Check www.corksport.com.

Sorry I didn't respond faster, I'm usually on here like 24/7 but I'm in new hampshire and the only internet access I have at our summer condo is by using my cell phone as a modem.. so it's painfully slow.

oh it's cool. I was going to try and have this done by the time that I went out of town, but it doesnt look like that i will be able to. I looked on corksport, but they don't have a listing for them. I might give them a call and see what the deal is.

thanks.

Blacked out my headlights this weekend

Finally got around to doing this How-To this weekend simultaneously with my roomate and his G35. I don't post much but i figured I'd share with anyone interested in blackin out their lights. It went smoothly. Our cars are 10x easier to work on then a G35 though. Take a look. The car is in bad shape since i live and park in the streets in NYC (with is frustrating as all hell by the way) but I'm keepin it as pretty as possible.

BTW, great mod to do-- the look is awesome (although i might remove my yellow fog rockblockers now, feedback on that would be much appreciated) and it even makes my headlights perform a little bit better at night.

I contacted CorkSport and they said that they no longer sell them, referred me to their seller (alfaotto.com). Contact at AlfaOtto said that they are only a supplier and do not sell to the general public, and if they do, there is a $800 minimum.

Any AVs interested in taking this up?

Have you tried eBay yet? look around in the for sale forum and maybe ask in the 3rd gen forum. I know a lot of people have them, and there's people around who are probably trading their cars in and would sell them to you.

Looks sweet.... before you remove the rockblockers do the Fog light "How to" and the JDM upper Gril lip mod... then change your front signal bulbs to the same color as your fogs... light'm up once your all done and you might like the end product....regardless nice Job (first)

has anyone used fusion paint? I had a buddy use it on his rsx, just i was just wondoring if it holds up to the temp of the lights

I'm halfway finished with this project...got a question though. Do i need to get 100% of the chrome off before painting? It is so hard to get the recessed areas sanded down.

Also, one of my headlamp bolts snapped in half while removing it. I may be able to remove the broken half of the bolt , but wher can i find a matching bolt to secure the lamp?

not sure about the bolt but i know the better you want the paint to stick and look the more sanding you should do.. mine turned a sort of grayish green color when i sanded them.

BTW All done with this mod

I had to drill out the busted headlight mounting bolt, and ordered a replacement from OnlineMazdaParts.com, as well as the Headlamp sockets that the PO threw away!

Here's what I ended up with!

Black on black is very nice!!! (deadhorse) Now get the smoked rockblocker fog overlays and paint your calipers black....gonna paint mine black next spring.

Just did mine today and it looks awesome... but I melted the bottom of the housing and it made a hole. I just hope it doesnt condensate. Oh yea has anyone tried leaving the rings chrome?

^^ I considered leaving chrome rings but then got lazy and just painted the whole thing black :) I bet it would look cool, it's something I haven't seen anyone do yet.

my left one just got some condensation... it was so random, i was just washing my car, i expected to get condensation through the months of driving, through rain too, it decides to condensate when i wash my car.... going to crack it open again and clean it up
