While installing my newly acquired Turbo Timer into my Mazdaspeed protege, i found that there's a HOW-TO for BLITZ (found here: http://members.tripod.com/church56/blitz.html ) and a HOW-TO for HKS's Type 0 (found here: http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=37921) but none for the Greddy Full Auto Turbo timer.
It took me longer looking for information on were to splice the VSS( Vehicle Speed Sensor) wire than the complete install!!!
so, i took some pictures and here's what i found.
The easiest way to install this fabulous turbo timer.
also, excuse my english for i am a latino guy who barely knows any english.
Start by disconnecting the NEGATIVE (-) from the battery.
I will choose a location for you, since this is the location most people use for being the easiest and the stealthiest(a word??) it is located where the coin pocket under the steering wheel.
drill a hole behind it big enough to fit the plug, or you may do a small one and disassemble the plug. (if you need to know how to disasemble the plug...just do the hole big enough to pass the plug thru.)
now, we're gonna splice the 3 main cables from the turbo timer second harness onto the ignition keyswitch wires.
cut the plug that has only 3 cables, the plug is white.
splice the RED wire onto the RED wire from ignition.(shown below)
splice the GREEN wire onto blue wire (in the picture, it would be the wire behind the black/white wire)
splice the BLUE wire onto the black/white stripe wire.
after doing this, lets wire up the VSS cable (vehicle speed sensor) onto the ECU wire.
Let's start by removing the carpet from the front of the passenger side, also removing the kick panel on the left of the passenger side.
Now remove the four bolts holding the big metal bracket, the ECU is located right behind this as shown below:
after this, try to turn the bracket around to expose the ECU like this:
now, search for a small cable that is GREEN with a RED stripe, this is your VSS cable where you will splice the PURPLE cable onto after running it from the Turbo Timer via behind the dash as shown below.
now, you may want to put the ecu back together or leave it for later.
Next, lets connect the e-brake sensor cable( BROWN) onto the cable that comes from the e-brake, i wanted to do it as close as possible, but the cable from the e-brake changes color after the first plug and being that the cable is long enough, i decided to splice onto it at the e-brake itself as shown below:
you may want to put the center console back together now.
After this, the only cables you should have left are a GREY cable and a BLACK CABLE(GROUND)
we won't be using the gray cable, so you may just leave it hanging.
I left the ground last since if connected (in case you had forgotten to disconnect the battery) may damage your ECU and/or Turbo Timer, both being pretty expensive parts and one of them leaving you stranded for a couple of days until acquired.
The location that i chose the ground wire to be conencted to is a bolt holding the dash to the frame, it is found after removing the plastic panel on the driver side on the side of the dashboard.
now, if you haven't put anything back together, it would be a good time to get to know your turbo timer and test that it works. The instructions that come with the turbo timer explains how to set up the speed sensor and how to set up the auto-timer feature, this is not covered on this how-to.
i hope this helps someone when installing this awesome turbo timer.
i literally jumped when it worked...
i wish i had seen a how to like this when installing mine, but it gave me the opportunity to create my own.
Enjoy
