how to get a smoothy shift

Im noticing the tight shifter. I need to put some strength to pull it out or push in. I remember shifting used to be easier and smoothier back 1 year ago. I did 60k tune-up at the dealer more than 1 yr ago. They told me that they did a tranny flush. But dealers are not worth trusting (just my experience). So I wonder if I need to flush the tranny oil myself, and use some known brand (redline, penzoil??)

switch to either GM Syncromesh or to Redline Synthetic and you shall have your smoothiness back!

if I drain and fill, that will not replace all of the tranny oil... right? how could I get the old tranny oil out by DIY?

I used the redline in my MP3 and it shifts real smooth. It is a very easy to drain and fill the tranny. Drain it from the bottom and then fill it from the top. Make sure to have a good hose and funnel to get the fluid so it doesnt spill. 3 quarts will do it.

Redline MT-90 Synthetic Tranny Fluid. No more grinding and sticky shifts in the cold weather and will make your tranny live alot longer. Best way to go, good luck

It's a bad syncronizer ring. It's a ring around the shaft inside the transmission that helps to match speeds between the tranny and engine when shifting. That specific ring is usually the first to go since it's used the most. It's fairly easy for a shop to replace and if you have the tools and time you could do it too, but I suggest taking it in.
