how to find out my turbo still good or bad?

i'ad read alot a thread about smoking turbo, but all i know is when turbo is bad, they will smoke alot, most likely it went out because of aftermarket dp without catt... i have my turboxs dp/rp on about 10kmiles and recently just installed the PCV from PT PERFORNMANCE(no differen be4 and after install). I mean i do see smoke when i start the in the morning,,it will just smoke and stop. if i just leave the car off for couple hrs and start again, it will smoke again, plus my CEL was on and off at the first 1k miles, and recently CEL just came back on. it is telling me my turbo is fcuk? by the way how to fine out my turbo still good or bad? sorry im noob to the turbo, any advise will be greatly appreciated.!
 
I believe if you have the "smoking turbo" problem that your car will emit a very white smoke after idling for a few minutes. It doesn't sound like that's happening for you. Keep in mind, its winter, and its cold depending on where you live. Take a look at any other car that's idling, you can see their exhaust fumes pretty clearly as well just because of the nature of warm vapors entering a cold atmosphere.

The CEL code is most likely due to the lack of cats, and not your turbo, but it's all speculation until you get that code diagnosed.
 
got a chance to put that CEL today. 2 codes, p2187 and p0456. i check all the hoses and bolts.fuel cap also is tight.i even reinstalled and installed SRI, TIP, BOV. where else i should double check? anyone with knowledge please help?
 
P2187 - think it means you're running way too lean, would say you need an air straightener but you have a SRI so shouldnt be the problem. Maybe your fuel pump has crapped out?

P0456 - looked it up on google, something about evaporative vapors? No clue, I think you need to take it into the dealer as soon as possible.
 
i do have a air straightner. so might be my fuel pump is fcuk? i hate going to dealer, cause i need uninstall the dp/rp thats pain in the ass......

Try to check your purge solenoid valve. If you have the workshop manual, there's instructions there or someone here can explain what to do.

It's a common problem i guess... you will see high LTFT's and the lean code usually when it craps out.
 
today i found out RPM was going up and down when i let off the gas .....(somewhere between 1000rpm and 200rpm) what was that suppose mean? vacuum leak?
 
haha i had the p0456 and it was because either I or my wife half assed on putting the gas cap on. My buddy erased it and it was gone for good after putting the cap correctly on.

what BOV/BPV you running? sounds like your running VTA, but u could have a vacuum leak.
 
you have a big air leak somewhere between the maf and turbo, or the purge solenoid is bad, or a defective o2 sensor
