How To: Ebay FMIC

Appreciate it :D I guess taking a damn month to finish it paid off haha.

All you other slim fan guys, is your AC still blowing ice cold? I'm wondering if we might benefit with a 3rd "push" fan mounted to the front of the AC core.

ya it's not worth it, if you want just wire up the fans like I have it, I don't use the A/C anyways, and I wired the A/C fan to come on when the Rad. heat fan comes on, that way it will keep everything pretty cool all the time, so far it's been great, I just did a direct power wire to the A/C fan and soldered it into with the stock A/C wires, and hooked up a relay so that when the heat one comes on, it would trigger the A/C fan to come on using the direct power wire from the battery, and it wouldn't overload the A/C wires if I did ever use the A/C fan. Couldn't hurt and after doing it, I am very happy with it.

even though both fans are going with A/C on, I figure with 2 fans running when your not using the A/C it might just keep it cooler since its been so damn hot out, just got back from Cape Cod where it was the one of the coolest areas in the country besides some of the fan northern states, but luckily today after I got back, it has cooled down, glad I missed most of the heat wave

if anything I would wire yourselves a separate trigger circuit for the AC side fan (they make a thermostat that you stick into the radiator and is adjustable), that way you can have it come on BEFORE the ECU would normally tell it to, and then leave the AC wiring in tact. I did the same thing in my car, but luckily I can just do it with the computer.

^ I have one of those for my slim fans. They come on at 170f. Pretty nifty although there are alot of wires to run.

hmm, interesting, didn't know they had those, how do you mount the thermostat, and does anyone know what temp. the stock fans come on at? always curious at what temp the car normally runs at, and when the fans come on, because with my new Mishimoto rad. it lasts a good deal longer before coming on, which I expect but I don't know what temp that is anyways..

Yeah.....FYI, 2 10" slim fans might not be enough to keep things cool under the hood. My temp went up after a drive yesterday when I was cruising around slowly and my coolant was boiling....

What fan set ups is everyone running? I WANT to be able to run A/C

I'm running 2 10" fans, they come on at 170f. .... Although I don't have an A/C condenser.

then that doesnt help me lol

I had weak AC temps and after coming from a highway drive to slow street speeds I parked it and noticed that the coolant was boiling in the overflow tank.

I run a 12 inch slimline for the A/C side in the FACTORY shroud. That way it mounts right up to the ratiator and all the air has to cone through the radiator and condenser. I bet if you park your car and take a water hose and spray through the grill the AC should work. What's happening is your head pressure is to high on your AC. The water will lower that and your AC should work. If the water hose doesn't work something is wrong with your AC.

Honestly I think your fan isn't moving enough air through the condenser.

yeah, thats what I'm guessing too...Also thinking thats also the issue for the Radiator fan too.Got any pics of your AC fan set up?

You think it would atleast be beneficial to put the stock radiator fan on with the SMIc removed?

Wait so 2x10 inch slim fans are not enough to cool the car down? I myself want to keep my a.c fan working as it should, etc.

yeah, definitely not enough. AC blew super cold like it did before I did this when at highway speed....plus the 10" isnt large enough for the RAD fan.... they dont cover enough surface area of the rad to be efficient is my guess.

I think it needs something where the smic sets. Because otherwise I would think too
Much air will pass through there rather than the radiator.

how did you mount it in the stock shroud?

I took the clip off the blade on the slimline and mine is a slimline not a off brand. Then remove the blade. And take off the shroud. Then mount the motor in the stock shroud. I could only get 3 out of 4 mounting screws in so for the forth one I drilled a hole in the plastic and put a ziptie in there and used a ziptie ratchet to tighten it down. You have to
Make sure it's center though. I think I have pictures.

If I would have known,I probably would have ordered 2 12inch fans instead of 10inch. I guess I will try the 10" and see how they work out for me.temperature here in CT isn't as bad as other states anyways.

ya i have the 2 12" slim fans, and even before when I just had the 1 12" slim fan for the A/C and the stock rad fan with the SMIC removed.. it worked great.... my 12" fans right now are mounted right up against the rad. and there's no melting or anything, and I used those long slim fan brackets but you could use thin aluminum strips and just bend them from like Lowes.. they put out a solid 1550 CFM... they are pretty much these

O ok. I have the same ones but 10". I think my car will do fine with the 10". Were u able to fit 2 12" perfectly fine ?

ya, I'll go take a pic of them on there, still had room on top and bottom, like I said, could have fit 13" if they made them, but 14" might have been a little strange to mount, but mayyybbee could have worked, not sure
