How To: Ebay FMIC

haha iight..im pumped now..ill post pictures when im done..im gona do the hot pipe identical and change the cold pipe around a lil. i wanna keep my fogs and use my stock bpv for now. thanx guys

yeah 20 or 30 bucks for silicone couplers is ridiculous. just go to a local diesel truck shop and ask for silicone pipe by length and then just cut it at home.

Bump it! Ill be rescanning the thread for routing for my set up. Just got pipes in today. still need couplers. lol

Do us all a favor! take lots of pics of everything including clear pics of your routing.

Even though I have a supercharger? Im just going to copy the cold pipe routing. Either way ill take lots of hi def pics. lol

ok so here are the details of my straight up ebay front mount and "Injen CAI replacement" kit:

FIRST: FMIC
all piping is 2.5", my core inlet and outlet were retarded 2.25" size, so had to use reducers, but look for a kit or core that is same as piping, (couplers are cheaper, than reducers!)

what i used:

total of 18 clamps: 2" turbo out, 2x2.25" for my core inlet/outlet, and 15x2.5" clamps.

hot side: 2-2.5" coupler, u-bend, 2.5" coupler, 90deg pipe, 2.5" coupler, u-bend, 2-2.5" coupler.

then -->Interfooler! -->

cold side: 90deg pipe, 45deg coupler, 45deg pipe, 45deg coupler, BOV pipe, 2.5" coupler, MAF, 90deg coupler.

DREMEL rotary tool is basically required. for cutting the metal and plastic throughout the install, man up and buy it, one of the best investments so far.
metal hack saw and a buddy required as well for cutting and holding whatever you need, cant really put the pipes in a vise.
Electric Drill for mounting the front mount. I simply got some long bolts and screwed my core to the crash bar from the top, to try to raise it up as far as possible so it doesnt hit the bottom of the plastic bumper.

also, if you take out ur side mount, u are going to have to make new brackets for: bottom support of the radiator, relocate and bend the original top radiator brace, top radiator fan brace.

SECOND: SRI
ditch ur Injen cai and make your own short ram.

Very simple: 2-2.5" coupler, 45 deg pipe, filter

(i'll update this post when i get my filter in the mail)

just an FYI, you can actually put the pipes in a vice, just use a rag (like a shop rag or something) so you dont **** up the finish
thats what i did when i cut my pipes, worked great

Okay, so I have my piping ran, but I'm short a few couplers so I can't relocate the MAF. I have 2.25" piping, so what kind of couplers would I need for the MAF to get thrown in there? 2.25"-2.5" reducers? Also, what size is the TB inlet?

And Wagon, where did you get your license plate relocation brackets? I've been looking for something like that.

He custom made those out of some aluminum stock.

Also the MAF is 2.75 and the TB is 2.5

So you would need (1) 2.25-2.5 reducer and (2) 2.25-2.75 reducers

At the hardware store. Made it out of 1" by 1/8" flat stock.

Also, FYI, the MAF will take a 2.5" coupler if you wrestle it on there. I didn't feel like spending the extra for a reducer. with 2.25" piping you may not have a choice though... By the same logic I would assume a 2.25 could be made to fit over the TB.
