How To: Ebay FMIC

evidently they are bar and plate... hmmm i was thinking of making cores but if i can get em for $42 usd.....

nice, just ordered a kit and core, got the 27x6x2.5" core, with the CXRacing kit with the 2 ubends, that should be enough pipes right, I want to run them most likely through the wall right next to the radiator and SMIC (I plan on getting a full sized rad. eventually, and I refuse to get rid of my CAI) can't wait for it to get here and get some measurements/mock-ups done.. sooo much cheaper than my smic/hardpipe kit lol, hmm I also have to order another bov flange.. and maybe another straight pipe. so I can relocate my MAF

With my kit do you think I should have enough to run it like the corksport way...I have the Cx Racing

that's the kit I got I'm pretty sure but in polished aluminum, I was going to go ahead and just order 2 90* couplers so that I can route it right after rad. and smic but I think I mine as well wait till I get the kit and see how I really wanna set it up, I figured I'd need more couplers but at $10-15 a piece I can wait to see what I really need, I have a bunch of couplers from my smic kit if I need anything, since I will be keeping that around (spent too much money and like it too much to part with it, maybe I'll stick in on another spicy in the future lol)

also for reducers, I have some from my smic kit like I said, but the couplers that come with the kit should be able to tighten down on it maybe?.. either way it doesn't really matter to much, just curious

also I was just looking at the pics again, I know they mentioned it before, but on the hotside, do I need slimfans, or can I sneak by, I don't want the fan rubbing against the pipes but if it's tight I can deal with that

dont forget all the reducers you will need. they add up fast.

i guess thats true, id be worried about leaks not using the proper size coupler for the pipe though.

I have a 3" right angle on my maf and i doubt its sealing perfectly even with it tbolt deformed to hell.

Hi guys

I'm doing a FMIC setup similar to this. I know it was mentioned slightly in previous posts that some people are cutting off the fog light brackets and inner lip to fit the piping/IC. I really want to keep my fog lights, but I was test fitting the bumper and seems as though the middle lips inside the bumper are interfering with the IC. Anyone else had this problem and what did you guys do to fix it?

Also to those who cut the fog light brackets did you guys cut a portion off or remove the whole thing?

my IC does force the bottom of the bumper forward about an inch and a half. I don't have the 3 mounting points under the car for the bumper connected.

03.5 = no fogs for me. but no, I ran the piping underneath the fog bucket on the driver's side, and avoided that area all together on the pass side.

I got my turbo kit used from another protege and piping was supplied but I may have to do a little more modification after reading this thread.

On my cold pipe side I have a J-bend from intercooler that connects to a 45 degree pipe up the CAI hole.

I see in this picture that the frame was cut or bent back? For those who have fogs (ES model) do you think routing this way would clear the fog light bracket?

It's hard to say. I don't have fogs either (03.5) but I did trim the area where the fogs would be. If you got some extra couplers and cut the piping to make it work then I don't see it being a problem. I did not need to avoid the area so I didn't think twice about it. The only way you will know is when you are actually assembling it.

ya I really hope my pipes won't be in the way of my fogs because, well I have fogs, and the HID kit that is mounted onto of the mud gaurd flaps, also how tight are the pipes on the cold pipe side, because if it's going to be right up against the fan, then I will just order the slim fan and be done with it, with that said, what is a good size fan to get, I plan on eventually getting a full sized racing rad. (when I build the engine and get a bigger turbo ect..).. which in that case I will be getting one anyways, so I mine as well get one now.. so what size should I get?

also will the CS install way for the cold side work with 03 fogs, since I have the CAI and don't want to take that out, thanks for the info..
