How to cure Cel/Mil from removing cat with Non-Fouler

Affirmative. As long as you are still running your main cat in the midpipe, it will pass emissions. (At least mine did here in Ohio at E-Check". I had a Spooled^ header with the spark plug non-fouler installed, OEM midpipe and cat, GReddy EVO2 cat back and passed without a problem.

This mod sounds like it may have another use. Not sure if it will work on my unique problem but maybe someone can advise me. I have an old Nissan Axxess that the exhaust manifold cracked and warped driving the O2 sensor nuts and I can't find a exhaust manifold anywhere so it is just sitting waiting. I tryed driving it but it uses lots of fuel, example about 1/4 tank for 30 miles. Was ready to strip it and junk it but if this may fool the O2 sensor it may allow me to use it for some utility stuff.
Give me your opinion.
I just bought a Mazda 6 about a month ago and because it is so great I got a 2003 Protege 5 to take the place of my Nissan Axxess. If I could get the Nissan running I would use it for some things that I wouldn't want to do in the P5.

Thanks for any opinions as I'm not very good at fixing cars.

I'm not 100% sure I'm understanding all of this, but basically your exhaust manifold cracked and something about driving your O2 sensor nuts? That doesn't make much sense to me. Could you clarify?

It began idling very strange and would cause the rpms to jump up and down until engine warms up then ran quite well but began using a ton of fuel when I drove it on the highway. Tailpipe looks very sooty. I took it to a garage to check out and he told me the exhaust manifold is warped and cracked so the O2 sensor is sending wrong info to computer causing it to adjust air fuel mixture to compensate. Need new exhaust manifold but none to be found because it was a common fault and because it was a 1993 nobody has any. Because it is so old Im not going to have somebody custom build one for it. Would cost too much.
I was hoping that if this mod could fool the computer I could still use it.
My description saying the O2 sensor was going nuts may not have been the right way to describe things.

Thanks for response.

Talked to a mechanic today and showed him the setup but he indicated that the Nissan O2 sensor does not have a heater so this wouldn't work because it wouldn't get hot enough. Crap!
Oh well it was intended for something entirely different and seems to work so don't let my interuption spoil your thread.

i keep getting the warm up code. stays on for a while then turns back off. then back on again after a few miles. Bad O2 sensor mayber? and this is off the first o2 sensor right? correct me if im wrong but is this called the "upstream" o2 sensor?

well bought a new O2 sensor.....went 136 miles and CEL came back on. dont know what to do now. any suggestions?

Finally had time to do it might wana add in not to over tightn it after u drill it out its not very strong had to get my 2 pieces welded together :(

I know i'm really late. but if someone reads this, do they use the sniffer on cars for emissions test anymore. or just the computer??? it would fail the test with a sniffer right???

Normally, if the car is an OBD2 car, they plug in and do a visual inspection. OBD1 typically runs a sniffer.
