I'm starting to think that I'll just scan the page in Corky Bell's bood and put it in post #1...
I vote do it, but it won't matter, the naysayers arent going to read everything anyway.

they have 2 long springs in the pack.
one is longer but stronger.
the other one is shorter in length but expands more?
whitch one do you use?
doug

Im currently looking to install my spring as well and there is 5 springs inside the package. The longuest one has one side that is rounded and is very weak in tension. Is it this one? Or its the second longuest one with the bigger tension of the pack (no rounded ends)?

Yup that's the one with no rounded ends and the biggest tension.

What's funny is that the "renowned and respected Joe P" even told me that this was a usable mod and worked fine. I talked with him at great lengths about it awhile ago.

But then again, he did think that Magnus exhaust really would add 77 whp.

Britt

Wow- this is old, but why drag my name into this stuff? I don't remember having this discussion, but that does not mean we didn't. If we did, it was probably left at "it will work", but I would never do it myself. I would adjust the gate or shim it personally, if not using an MBC.

I said the 77 hp was possible from exhaust taking into account that it probably caused the boost to creep a bit too. You do not bolt a 3" exhaust up to a stock turbo car and have the boost sit dead where it was stock.

Anyway, leave me out of your internet arguments please, I tend to get into enough on my own :).

Cool thanks, Ill use that one, because the first didnt do too much I must say lol ;)! By the way, are you still using that mod or you got an EBC since then?

Still with the spring. Since mine is shorter (the ends broke when I tried to re-bend them correctly) I am not at 9.5psi and it's still going nice and smooth. I have 0.5 psi peak in the lower gears but it's steady in 4th.

if you're not at 9.5 psi, what are you at? or did you mean "now at 9.5"? That is about what mine runs at peak and settles closer to 8.75-9

OUPS! sorry for the mistype! I am NOW at 9.5psi. and peaking at 9.75-10psi.

Ok guys, got the spring installed tonite, very easy by the way. I did it from the top without removing anything in like 5 min :)! So that was the best part. The think is that with the spring my Speed goes up to 9psi (boom07) !!! Is it normal, because I thought I would get around 2psi increase! Do you guys all spike around 9 and go back to 8 !?

Thanks

I did this mod today w/ a different spring than what was shown. my boost now seems to come up quicker and stronger and it upped it a consistent 1 psi. seems to be a good mod IMO. thanks for the translation/thread speedbeaver

What spring did you use for a 1psi increase?

i max out at 9.5 when wot, but usually around 9 then settles down to 8.5-8.75, but I also have upgraded spipe back which increases boost too

All right, I shorted the hook that I made at both ends and now My boost peak around 8 and drop down to like 7 toward de redline. Perfect for me :)!

This forum is so great, you always find answers to all your questions :)!

I tried this today.
No luck.
I finally was able to hook it somewhere but I lost the spring right away.
My hands do not fit in there and I cannot see the end of the rod.

So I bought 2 more springs and tomorrow I will try again.

Browsing thru the page, and I noticed you plates from Oregon. I think I've seen your car around the Beaverton-Aloha area. it's nice to see another MSP in this area. I drive an msp black mica. c u around

This is actually one of the biggest SRT mods too. A lot of the people at srtforums.com used this for a long time. The SRT will throw a code after awhile, but I don't think the Mazda will because I don't think the PCM senses boost. Don't know for sure yet.

There have been some people here before that have done this too.

I tried again and no luck. I cannot find my hands or reach the actuator.
I will try to hook the spring to the nut instead of the lever.
Otherwise I will jack the car sunday.
