Sorry if that was earlier but I cant find it (rei)

How much hp/torque is possible to reach on stock turbo in speed3? I have SRI, catback with test pipe and FMIC. What is a possible power with remapping it with stock turbo?

thx

Stock K04 on this engine will probably run out of steam through modding at somewhere between 300-320 whp. No amount of increased flow on intake or exhaust sides, raising boost levels safely or leaning out of AFR or adjusting of mapping will get you much above that without risking engine failure, IMHO.

Heh, if you ask me, the stock turbo is undersized for the car right off the dealer lot. An otherwise stock MS3 would be more fun to drive and make more power with just a bigger turbo. The only reason I haven't upgraded my turbo is because of the cost of it. If this was like my old DSM and a high quality upgrade turbo was $600 (like a big 16G) I'd have done that first.

The more you push the stock turbo, the harder you are on the engine. The stock turbo heats the air up too much and restricts the exhaust too much when you push it to higher than stock boost levels, or ask it to flow much more air than stock.

I wish these were easy like DSM's.. Then we would have a cost efficent fuel pump upgrade.. Instead of a $650 PIA.. LOL Cost more than a ported E316G.

I'll jump in and say, though, that even though the little K04 poops out at 5,500-6,000 rpm on our engine, it spools up rapidly and has very little turbo lag. I've been the big turbo route on other cars and they were not that much fun to drive as daily drivers. Big turbos tend to make the car seem like a little econobox until you get way up in the rpm range, making them very slow and almost getting in people's way unless you ramp up the throttle and then bust the tires loose. Not very linear power. More like an on-off switch than an accelerator pedal. Bad thing to do in front of cops.

So, all things considered, unless I was wanting to make the car more of a dedicated racer and would be willing to put up with the low rpm low output and turbo lag, I think the K04 is actually a pretty good choice, even for modding up to almost 100 hp above stock.

It's all a compromise. There's no perfect turbo for all needs.

Just one opinion.
