Nah man, they do serve a purpose, imagine if everyone would be wildin out without rules? Be total mess. Just make sure that when you do the crime you can pay the fine, although i agree going to jail for speeding or some of the stupid s*** we do is a little bit harsh...
I understand and respect the purpose of having police but the power trip s*** is absurd.
When I got my 61 in a 55 I was driving on a way-back country road and was passed by two other work vehicles going WAY over the speed limit (different company)...I later passed the state cop going my "61"...he immediately turned around and pulled me over. When he gave me the ticket he said "When you get to where you're going, better your buddies in the other van to slow it down, I didn't have my radar on when they passed me. They should consider themselves lucky."
He gave me a ticket because he was pissed at some other white work vans...real nice stuff.
last summer I was attempting to parallel park my work van (Ford E350) when I hit a parked car. I went into the building, got the owner and called to police. I wanted to make sure there was a report made and that she'd be taken care of (I couldn't care less about the van). When the cop got there, he questioned me on what happened, I was truthful and he went back to make the paperwork. When he came back he gave both of us the accident report and then handed me a ticket. I looked at it and asked him what it was for.
"There was damage to the vehicle, I have to issue a ticket."
I replied "no sir, I don't believe you have to."
"Well, if you don't like it, take it to court."
he walked off and left. The conversation was that brief...as if he was put-out by having to make an accident report or something.
I had a brief discussion with the owner of the other vehicle and even she said that bulls***. I was trying to do the right thing and he stuck it to me. He issued a ticket for "illegal lane usage". I went to court and tried to fight it but because it was on a city street and not in a parking lot, they upheld it saying it was up to the officer's discretion if he/she wanted to issue a ticket. I did ask if a ticket was mandatory which the reply was "No, it is up to the individual officer." I then got stuck with court costs.
I got a ******* moving violation when I was simply trying to take care of a lady and make sure my company repaired her vehicle. I never said a single cross word to the officer and I even called the cock sucker.
So I'll say it again....I ******* HATE cops. Most that I've come across think they're one step below God, they fail to realize it's a job...not some higher calling.
