How long does it take your Mazda 5 to warm up in the Winter?

Hey I was just curious as to how long it takes for you to actually feel heat in your 5? I had a 2001 Isuzu Rodeo before and it took a good 15-20 to warm up. My 5 takes at least 10 minutes sometimes more. Today was 18 degrees outside and it took like 15. My GF has a 2009 Subaru Outback sport and it warms up pretty quick compared to the 5.( I guess it helps that she was butt warmers but still )

Modern cars don't need much warm up even in sub-zero temp.
Just survived Arctic Blast in Kansas City in 10F. Only warmed up for about a minute and drove away slowly (no choice in snow). The heater took 20 minutes to fully warmed up.

Heater output is directly related to outside temp -the colder it is, the longer it takes. Our winter weather is warm and wet (11/52) today, and the heater is blowing warmish air after about 5 minutes. Takes longer at the freezing mark.

During summer (23/73) however, the engine is up to operating temp in about three blocks.

Perhaps a rad blanket could heat things up quicker?

It takes about 10 minutes for my car. It's around -10 celcius here (14 F). What kinda sucks is my commute to work which is about a 10 minute drive. My heater starts kicking in about a minute before I get work. So it's a cold drive everyday.

That is exactly what I deal with...I live 10 minutes from work also...My thing is that my 5 makes a weird noise from the engine when cold and of course goes away when warm...hard to exlplain what it sounds like. Anyways just curious. Thanks for the responses

I have a 2.5 mile commute. I just get in, start the car, and drive. My temp guage is usually off of COLD at about 1/2 way in freezing weather. I don't drive far enough to "feel" any heat. (unamused)

Tha't my life in the summer - but with the A/C.

Got rid of the dark dark green Accord because it was a heat sink. If it sat in the sun for 30 minutes, the A/C wouldn't blow less than 100 degrees for 20 minutes. Finding the black dash of the 5 is not that great for summer either though. Just keeps radiating the heat back into the cabin until its not in direct sunlight anymore. But this is a regional issue. You folks in Normal North America are just fine. (boom02)
