How long do you planning to keep your cx-5

I don't think that is the reason causing my oil burning as there are many people here having no oil loss issue with Mazda moly oil.

True. I've used Mazda GF-5 w/moly since the first oil change over 3 years ago and the level has never budged on my 2.0L.

The 2.5 liter has bigger bores so of course it's going to use more (whether it's measurable or not is not certain). However, I can't understand why the little bit it has used bothers you? It's not like you're having to add any. So no big deal.

This is something I don't like as the spec for 2.5L is 4.8 quarts for oil change but why I poured in 5 quarts and it still not reached to full mark?!

I recall you saying that Mazda really likes to pinch pennies. They probably just left out the balance shaft on yours to save money. So it vibrates and takes more oil to fill up all that space where the balance shaft should be. (yes)

No s*** Sherlock - good job stating the obvious. You totally missed where I said you can typically negotiate a lower sales price if you forgo the subsidized financing offer.

Good luck with that! People claimed the $USD would be worthless after Obama's first term (but it has only become stronger against other major currencies). So much for the "expert" prognosis.

Hey...sooner or later it's going to happen. Just a matter of when. I didn't say "count on it bailing you out of stupid decisions". Also, sometimes you can negotiate it...sometimes not.

If Mazda was willing to spend extra money and special made a balance-shaft-less 2.5L for me I'd gladly to accept it as I recall someone claimed it'd increase the power by 5~8 hp's!

Many people in this forum have found out even putting 5 quarts of fresh oil for oil change on 2.5L, it's still need more to reach the full mark! You're so active in this forum but you elect to ignore the fact and keep showing your arrogant behavior toward the forum members. Not good...

Over 5K intervals, using the Mazda Moly, I notice zero measurable oil loss in my 2.5L.

My Z06 used none.
My 370Z used about 1/2 quart every 5k.
My WS.6 used 3/4 quart every 4500.
My G20 used 1 quart every 3-4k or so.
My Grand Jeep Cherokee (HEMI) used none.

Don't add oil to reach a fill mark. Add the CORRECT VOLUME, and adjust your "mental interpretation of full" on the dipstick. It's a much better/safer way, I promise.

Noooooooooo! Then we would have to listen to your endless complaints how the engine wasn't as smooth as the competition!

Somehow you missed the joke smiley! Not good... You see, the comment about Mazda cheaping out and leaving the balance shaft out was a joke!

As much as I disagree with the Bail-Out, the phony Stimulus ("the shovel ready jobs weren't as shovel ready as we thought, hahahaha), Obamacare and other stupid programs, I don't recall Obama being blamed for propsective inflation.

That saddle was forcasted on Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke's Keynesian theology of QE1, QE2, QE3, salvages of the recession. You notice he didn't stick around to sell those bonds - coward...

Two things have kept inflation under control so far, 1.) the dollar being the reserve currency for almost all international trade, 2.) our economy really still sucks, as does the worlds economies. And if you've paid attention to economic cycles for the last 60 years another recession is knocking on the door...

The future of the dollar, up or down, is dependent on how the Fed manages the sale of the bonds they purchased to prop up Obama's legacy and the required runaway public debt. And how we now come to grips with the Greek level of debt and corruption in the US system. Should a decling economy be the worlds reserve currency? That answer may be out of our control, but thankfully China and Russia are doing worse than us, so all is good so far. Due, larely to the faint, whisper of a heart beat of capitalism left in our economy.

^^Wow this thread sure came off the rails...

The wife is not a 'car person' so she indicates that she wants to drive it till the wheels fall off.

Good for me.

I haven't had a car payment since I was 24 years old. And it was only $54.00/month! (rofl2)
I paid it off in one year and have been debt-free ever since! (drinks)

buying a car with cash is stupid. you can have it 0% for 60mos.

I am of the opinion that if I can't pay cash for a vehicle, I shouldn't buy it because I can't really afford it. The exception is they offer me such a low as in 0.5% financing and a CD is paying 1.0 %. That way I put the money in the CD.Ed

AMEN

This is internet. so kids that's just out of school, be careful whose advice you are siding on. :D

I plan to keep my new CX-5 at least 13 years.
I keep my cars a long time. My last 2 cars:
02 Mazda Tribute 14 years
89 Jeep Wrangler 13 years
Treat your cars well, and they'll treat you well a long time. Stick to the maintenance schedule and don't drive recklessly.

When I bought my car, the 'zero percent' deal cost much more than buying with cash or a conventional loan.
We had different scenario. Getting a 2.9% dealer sponsored loan would result a further $500 cash rebate. So we went for that and paid it off after 3 months of payment (so that the dealer could have the credit by selling a loan).

I'm hoping to keep my CX-5 for quite some time. I really like it.

Thank-you for pointing that out.

I mentioned that to begin with but the concept flew right over the heads of a couple of geniuses. Remember kids, if a deal sounds too good to be true, it's probably too good to be true.

Said a different way, "There 'ain't no free lunches".

Or, as P.T. Barnum said, "There's a new sucker born every minute".

That's a good point because you can get a 5 year CD paying over 2%. But you still need to figure out how much the 0% financing is costing you (vs. cash price) and do the math to see if the 2.x% interest on the CD will make up the difference. Chances are it will be close to a wash.

lol. what is lowest than 0%?

I worked for a stealership, and they always end up with $$$. its how business works. you get low price we will get high interest. you got decent price we will give you 0%.

if you have cx5 fully paid, totaled in a year? how much do you think the insurance will pay you? lol
