How fast does your CX5 go and how does it handle?

Oh yeah, theyre out there, but an Escort 360 Max Radar detector has been one of my best investments.

I won't ask what state you live in. Here in Virginia radar detectors are verboten.

I'm one of those people who nearly always obeys speed limits, and that 0.1% of the time I figure "I'll go with traffic," almost immediately I get picked out of the middle of the pack and awarded a citation. I still recall the last time it happened, returning from vacation through North Carolina. Less than 5 minutes after deciding to "go with the flow," and BAM!

I figure I'm being kept in line for my own good. At least, that's my story.

Only VA and CT are repressive enough to ban radar detectors last I heard. I used to have fun keeping mine hidden when I lived in VA.

It must have been difficult for you when 55 was the law of the land. The speed limit's too slow for me no matter what it is.

Wonder why you attract the fuzz so bad. :)

What sucked about 55 was I was driving a Camaro at the time...'67 350SS. 55 was just when the 4 barrel would kick in...it literally was impossible to maintain that speed. You either did 50 or you were doing 65.

Regarding the cops: when I got that ticket in North Carolina, I asked that question. "Why me out of this crowd?" The guy replied "You looked like you were gaining on them." What I think he meant to say was "You have out of state tags and are not coming back to fight it."

The day I hit my CX-5 break-in miles, I went on the interstate to put my foot into it. I live sorta between two exits, about 7 miles apart. Knowing my track record, I got on one and drove to the other doing the speed limit, taking a lay of the land. Sure enough, there was radar set up. So I turned around at the far exit and came back the other way, behaving until I got past the radar and then testing the turbo the rest of the way!

As I've said, I am not a gear head. I think God is protecting me from myself. My favorite car was my '59 Austin Healey Sprite. 948cc cast iron engine with a Stebro free-flow exhaust. Lots of noise and show, with very little way to get into trouble...if I minded the curves.
