how do you turn off Auto door lock?

Need some info. When I bought the P5, the doors did not auto lock at speed, now they will lock sometimes when the ignition is turned to on or when speed reached 10 mph. How can I turn this off? I have a remote starter as well and was fiddling with it when the auto locking began so I'm not sure if this has any thing to do with it or not. There is a service mode for the auto start that I am still playing with so this may prevent the auto lock at speed, though I'm not positive. I'm still trying to sigure out the remote starter as there was no manual nor is it similar to the many I've had before.

is it just remote start or is it a remote start/alarm combo?

Sounds strange, my auto lock happens as soon as I touch the brakes after the car has been started. They don't unlock until the key is turned.

I have a friend with a P5 and the autolock is turned off. There has to be a way to turn this feature off. Haven't found anything yet, maybe the dealer can tell me.

i didn't even know P5's had autolock?? and i owned one for 4 years.

P5's autolock? no way. i know mine will relock itself if you push the remote and you don't touch the car. But it never locked itself while i was in the car.

you gotta have some sort of aftermarket thing on there

that's what i'm thinking.

Never heard of an autolock on the normal P5 either.
My wife tells me to lock the doors every time we're in it. That's my "auto-lock".

You probably turned on the feature messin with it lol (sounds like something I would do honestly). do you know the brand of the alarm? Theres usually a sequence to turn this feature off or its actually on the alarm module itself. If you dont know the brand I would try looking at the module itself which should be below the steering column under the dash towards the drivers side door.

I have a stock 2002.5 P5 with the factory alarm and it auto locks when you start the car with the driver's door closed and unlocks all of the doors when the key is turned off. It's a little annoying because there are no lock buttons on any of the other doors and if I stop to let someone in or out they either have to manually unlock the door or I have to push the button (most of the time I forget). My Golf had it set to when you went over 8 mph it locked and the doors would unlock themselves when the inside lever was pulled. That set up I loved. If there is a way to either set it up to lock by speed or just turn it off all together I would like to know.

Here we go. Some of us have P5's that will auto lock others do not. There has to be a sequence that turns this feature on and off. There is no possible way that some will do it and others will not. They all have it built in, some are activated and others are not. My did not begin auto locking until I was tracking down the remote start wiring & switches.

This is kinda funny.
I just got my p5 a few weeks ago, and I've been wondeirn gabout this. There were a random times when I got to osmeplace, and discovered to my surprise the doros were locked. I *never* lock my doors when driving. But it's only happened a few times, and not recently.
I still have teh factory manual, I'll dig through it. Just the other day we were goin gsomeplace and I asked my wife to look it up. She oculdn't find anything... but of courset hat dosn't mean it's not there (peep)

Mine's a Canadian 2002, manual, no alarm. Pretty sure it's got auto locks.

Start the car, press the brakes, doors lock.

Turn ignition off, doors unlock.

However, if you unlock with the button on the drivers door once the car is running, they will not automatically re-lock again. Only the first time.

I do have a remote starter, but it's not connected to the brake pedal at all, so I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with this.

Interesting...I installed the factory alarm a while back, and have an extra alarm brain. I took the cover off and noticed there was 4 switches (1 off, 2 off, 3 on, 4 on) on the circuit board. I took apart the one in my car and it's the same...I wonder if you move the switches, you can have different options (i.e., auto lock and such).

I have the factory alarm too.
Since you took the cover off already, hit the switches and see what happens.

My guess is that they are just the coding for the alarm remote frequency.

Mine's an '02 as well, but has no autolock. Would be nice to have, I'm actually quite interested...

Yeah, I've been meaning to try it. Just hope nothing goes wrong.

But, if it's the alarm remote frequency, that's not required to program another remote.
