how bad?

I was racing and I did something I have not done in 10 years! I missed a gear! My 6s redlined all the way up to about 7100 RPMs. Redline is 6500. Everything seems fine but I feel so bad. Do you think I did any damage?

most probably not. if u ride the gear out completely u'll feel the car jerk back and forth and bouce off the rev limiter/fuel cut off.

manufactures put it there for a reason. to save from damage.

as long as u don't miss 4th gear and slide it into reverse...you should be fine. heh i've had a few friends do this (they shouldn't be able to drive IMO) and the result ain't pretty

actually, I should have said that i missed the gear completely. It revved in neutral to 7100rpms, about 600 rpms over the start of redline.

If you were in neutral, the rev limiter should kick in before you do any damage.

Redline isn't some magic number where your engine will blow up if you go past it. You were less than 10% over the limit for a very brief period of time. Don't worry about it. Now if you were running at 7100 rpms for 5-10 minutes or something, then I would be concerned.
