Houston, tx turbo xs downpipe & racepipe install

God I love Houston, although we have fog, smog, and traffic you can always find stuff. Instead of spending a day off installing a turbo xs downpipe and turbo xs racepipe I decided to spare myself the hassle by paying for the install. After the first shop that was going to do the job for $100 refused to after discovering they would be removing the primary cat. i had to settle and get the job done at the third shop I took the car to for $130, one place by the galleria quoted me $325(crazy!!). I will be picking up the car tomorrow morning and can't wait to see how it performs, hopefully no CEL's(if so time for some o2 sensor simulators).

Got the car back yesterday, and I'm very pleased with everything so far. The combination of the test pipe and downpipe to go along with the cai has really added some life to this car. So far the car has not thrown a CEL. I don't see why people are spending the money on aftermarket cat-back exhaust systems because the car sounds very close to stock at idle now but when you give the car some gas its noticabely louder. The next series of mods for me will be turbo manifold, fuel pump, ems.

haha, should have called me instead. glad to hear you like it, lemme know what the dyno says. took mine to fastlane on 1960. hit like 280whp and 312wtq with just custom cai, dp, colder plugs, deleted 2nd cat and BC at 17-18psi.

You're going to like these mods. I mean REALLY LIKE THEM.

I did finally get tired of what I sensed to be excessive drone in the 2500 rpm range after the mod. I eventually decided to put a resonator in line at the racepipe position to eliminate the drone. I just cut the 3" race pipe so that I could put a 3" Vibrant Ultra Quiet Resonator in the middle and so that when I reattached the flanges on each side the measurement was right for hook up. Clearance is tight but it works. The 'booming" on deceleraton passing through the 2500 rpm range is gone. Because it is a straight through resonator, there is no power loss.

Expect the CEL's to start coming. The spark plug extender trick did not work for me. Still getting the light a few miles after resetting. It may be AP time.

I just got my TurboXS stealthback installed in my 07 & everything was good for CEL's for about 10 miles. A lil smoke the first day, second day on all I see is smoke at idle. Alot of it, I would think most people think my car is on fire. Its at the dealership now, I have the catless version too. I like the "booming." All my other cars were super loud anyway. I'm used to it. I'll let you know how it turns out, you've been good on smoke right? Notice you're from Gulfport too, I spent some time in that area. (Not in prison or anything like that.) :)
