Hot mofo!

I noticed hesitation yesterday driving around in 100+ temp here in AZ. Thanks for the tip.

before you posted the pictures, i thought you were talking about the carpet like fabric underneath the hood.

Has anyone thought of removing it? I think it would allow the engine bay to be slightly cooler as well.

I wouldn't recommend it unless you like bubbly paint on your hood. :p

Peace...(hippy)

All I can say is WOW.

It is amazing how much cooler the engine area is after removing that. I am thinking about slicing it into 3 pieces and putting the center part back in. It seems the hood might use it a little bit for stuctural reasons. I don't want my hood starting to dip in the middle.

Well

Joe (KWIKTSI) is the O.G. propagator of this idea (at least here) but he was just too LAZY to take any pictures.
It's ok KWIKTSI I forgives ya man!

It is one of those "if you need pictures, you should not be touching your car" kind of things :D ... Well, maybe it is laziness and I just want to blame others :).

The disadvantage is that all that hot underhood air is now sucked into the interior of the car when you have the vent pulling outside air in. That grille under the wipers feeds your ventilation system.

I don't think it's that bad since I took mine off. It rarely gets hot in Portland, so I don't use the air conditioner all that much.
Only when you have it on vent. If you have it on recirc, it pulls the air from inside and recirculates it. I never use the vent anyway, I like the cool dry air of the AC, not the cool damp air from outside :).
