I got a wild hair to go and upgrade the amp and speakers. First I got new speakers in the form of a set of PPI 356cs for the front and MB quart 6x8's for the rear. I ran them through the stock amp for a few days to make sure they worked and they did. I then decided it was time to do it right so I ran dual wires into each door for the front components. I mounted the x-overs under the seats. I ran new wire from the trunk to the x-overs. Since the Bose headunit puts out a very flat 2 volt signal to the amp by way of speaker wires I followed one of the write ups on cutting these wires at the plug and turning them into RCA's. I made my own RCA's with one end bare just for this and ran them down the passenger side of the car to avoid any noise and also carefully ran them as far from the fuel pump as possibly under the rear seat. I have a PPI PCX-5800 that was going to drive it all for now. So, when I turn the key to acc for just the radio l get a hum. If I turn the key on, I get clicking overtop of the hum. I went through all the grounds and redid them making sure contacts were sanded bare and no change. I'm definitely getting some sort of feedback through the system, but I'm stuck right now as to the source. I've also tried pulling all the speakers wires off and then connecting one at a time and no change. Tried one RCA connection at a time and no change. The only time it didn't do it was when I disconnected the RCA's from the source and connected left to right on the amp to make sure it wasn't feedback internally. Definitely seems like a source issue.

I thought the homemade RCA's were part of the problem so I went out today and bought an expensive set of RCA patch cables and a better set of a short females. I cut one end off the females and very carefully seperated the braided wire away from the signal. I went to the back of the head unit (where the colors don't match the diagram in the faq for my HU) and cut the wires there instead and soldered in the females and then ran the expensive RCA's outside the car to the amp in the trunk. No change at that point besides a lighter wallet. Last thing I just did was cut the ground to the stereo and ran one straight to the battery. This made one change and maybe it will help you guys to help me. Now when I turn the key to acc only there is no hum, some very faint hiss, but no hum. When I turn the key to on without starting the engine I still get the hum and the clicking/snapping sound through the speakers. There is something that runs in the engine bay for about 30 seconds when I turn the key back to acc or off and I can hear a relay click when it shuts off. Right in the last five seconds of that thing running, the hum gets really loud and there are a few other odd sounds that come through the speakers then click and its all gone. Any suggestions?
Today:
From this point forward there is no noise with the key in acc, only when turned to on, but this is because I grounded the radio in the trunk where the amps are.
I moved one battery back to the engine bay. Still has noise. I removed the battery in the trunk from the system completely, still has noise. I ran the amp off the battery in the trunk and the car from the one under the hood. No noise. I removed the circuit breakers from the system and tied the power wire together from battery in engine to amp in the trunk. Has noise. Tied the front ground point to the rear ground point. Still has noise.
I'm really stuck right now and won't have another amp to try until Monday evening. Any suggestions in the meantime?
