hey guys
i just bout a gigantic train air horn for my three. im taking it to a place to have it installed, but it seems as if the only place to mount it, is in front of the radiator. I know this is bad, but can someone tell me the pros and cons to having this type of set up and what can happen to the car, radiatior, etc?

thanks

I had horns placed in front of the radiator with no affect. I believe most members on here are doing that, not much of a choice. Your car will run the same as before unless your horns cover the majority of the radiator.

thanks a lot that makes me feel a lot better knowing if this thing fits i would have to return it

when you test fit, the instructions I had said to face the horn openings down, so that when it rains they dont fill with water.. Mine were angled like 45ish degrees.

Thanks for the links, Tony.

Yeah, I mounted mine in front of the rad but directly behind the bumper so I wouldn't lose any air flow. The only bad thing is that if I get into even a super-weenie collision, my condenser is toast because the horns are actually touching it (there's a piece of rubber stuck in between to prevent vibrational damage). It's SOOO worth the risk, though! (2thumbs)

It took me about 8 hours to fabricate all of the brackets for the horns, compressor and air tank. Including wiring and plumbing, the entire installation took about 25 hours the first time. Then maybe another three or four hours when I relocated the compressor and re-wired and re-plumbed everything.

thanks for all the help guys this is really helping. on wednesday i am going to really take time to see if i can fit this horn in. i have a feeling that it will still be too big. but o well. well see. ill let you guys know whats up. thanks again

You have a picture of the horns you got?

I know on my car, the aftermarket PIAA horns didn't fit between the grill and the radiator. The stock horn fits there because it has a smuch smaller profile.

So what I did was mount them in the engine bay, kinda behind the radiator on pre-existing grounded bolts. Works fine for me and still louder than stock.
