Hope for us Auto Guys yet...

My friend Albert turbocharged his auto silver p5 and is probably putting up the same numbers as you bazooka joe. I wish he would chime in on the thread.

haha...i finally found the thread...but yeah, im running my auto p5 with the msp turbo and homebuilt fmic setup with parts from ebay (actually installed it this weekend 2 years ago)...no major problems in that time period though i am running one less tranny cooler now since i had to change my stock radiator and am just running with one aftermarket tranny cooler...

running with the lentech valvebody and planning on upgrading engine and tranny internals next year...running at 7.5psi right now and with the ss afc v1...only problem ive been having are getting the tune right (now running 440cc injectors) and an ongoing issue with my radiators leaking (im on the 3rd one right now its copper...but still springing some small leaks)

best dyno run i got 160whp...but that was untuned and before i got the bigger injectors...

can a lsd be fitted into the auto?

lentech sells an lsd...im looking into that for next year...

And finally a question about the tranny temp sensor (this is directed at SIBalla). I would really like to see a pic of the sensor in the drain plug. I was gonna install mine that way, but it didn't look like there was a lot of room for it in front of the drain plug.

Get a m14x1.5 washer from any autoparts store. I personally used one that was copper on the outside and rubber in the inside part. But any washer will do. Get that fitting I had the link to in my other post, remove that crappy little rubber o-ring from it and install washer. Now my trans temp gauge is the autometer ultralite. Took the sender and installed it into the fitting. Make it real tight and use teflon sealant, not tape but the sealant in the tube(permatex) Once that is in take the entire sender/fitting and install it replacing the drain bolt. It just fits trust me. Then do your wire hookup to it. Very simple job. Do in that order and there will be no problems. Do not try and install fitting into pan first then install sender, will not have enough room since you need the sender threaded into that fitting first. Those few threads make the clearance you need. I hope this helps you further understand. But will try and take a pic in a day or two to help show better.

indeed...the car can handle boost just fine...its all just a matter of keeping a really close eye on things and keeping up with the maintenence

isnt there a risk of some sort of debris jumping up and smacking into the sender and knocking it off?

I wouldn't really think so since the drain and sender is on the back of the pan and the plastic sheild infront the pan does block pebbles and crap like that. I would think it would only come out if you bottomed out with car being lowered but if that happened the pan would be ripped out too. Sender is facing parallel to ground not at it.

Plus its recommended to get the sender mounted to pan either by doing my method or welding it to the pan. If you seen the pan its not very deep so it can't really go any higher on the pan than the drain already is at. Plus like I said its at the back.

ahh...i might look into that then...right now i have my tranny temp sender sitting in this huge brass fitting full of adapters...im thinking that might throw off the temp readings a bit...

Yea that's how mine is hooked up too, it splices into the line that goes to the tranny cooler. I'll definitely try the drain plug instead now that I know it can fit.

cool thread! i'll be doing my tranny cooler soon...the temp guage setup sounds perfect!

for those of you boosting... how are the first 2 gears? i autoX and definately step on it during these gears... if i boost... i would die quick... that's why i'm pretty NA for now...

Remember too, when the sender is mounted in the pan, it grounds itself through the pan. If you do it on the lines, you have to creat a ground wire from sender to chasis ground. More of a pain in my opinion.

With the gt25r turbo its spools very fast so your in boost very quickly. Also with the lentech valvebody it shifts fast so you can go through the gears fast. It pulls hard every gear.

i dont really hit boost in first gear, but 2nd gear pulls very very strong...

yep...my grounding wire is basically a wire with a ring terminal at the end thats taped to the side of the brass fitting...

I have the temp sender fitting like siballr23 just one after the cooler, I never see temps above 150 degrees, I installed sender on the stock setup and temps were 180-200 the stock cooler in the radiator wont cool it lower than coolant temps so it sucks. I must have bad luck tho Im boostn 5-6 psi and trans only lasted about 2500 mi

I don't boost in 1st either, but I'll get on it in 2nd.. and it does pull pretty hard. I usually try to let the engine get to ~4500 rpm before I punch it all the way, my understanding is that the low end torque is what destroys automatics so I try to avoid getting on it below 4000 rpm.

As for AutoX, if you have tiptronic you're set. I just did my first one a couple weekends ago and it was AWESOME! 2nd redlines around 70 mph on the automatics and most AutoX courses won't ever have you going faster than that, and with the quick spool up time of the T25 you'll be hauling some serious ass!! Here's a short clip if any of you are interested in seeing how fun an auto P5-T can be ;)

the turbo install seems alot more complicated than i originally thought..

how hard is it to get to the oil sender location?..

i still gotta hit up the dealer for oil and coolant lines/ fittings.
