Hope for us Auto Guys yet...

Lentech Street Terminator valve body installed today. Install was pretty easy, but very messy. Shifting is definitely more solid and direct now.

Here's a video of the noise the transmission will make when you start it for the first time. Plus I did a little walk around of the car while it did its thing:

The noise is the pump trying to suck the trans oil throughout the transmission.

question!

I've got a ss afc v1 coming to me, but someone told me that the ecu learns around the afc, and i'll have troubles.

would it be best to ditch the afc and go with the begi rrfpr and o2 clamp? or is the afc tried tested and true?

Dunno about the afc but I can confirm that the BEGi and FM o2 V-clamp works AWESOME!! Super easy to install & tune, and very reliable.

The ECU will learn around the piggy back in CLOSED LOOP operation, but in OPEN LOOP, you can use the piggy back to adjust the air/fuel mix.

Can you add LESS fuel with this set up? I think I've only seen this setup used for turbos when you need more fuel due to the turbo. For NA, you want less fuel.

i would stick with the afc...i have mine running right now and its pretty good at pulling or dumping fuel...only problem im having right now is finding the right map (since im pretty sure we cant use the msp's maps)

why would the msp maps not work?

indeed...i heard that the msp's ecu dumps more fuel in boost while the protege/p5 ecu doesnt...so the afc will be used to compensate for that lack of fuel for the proteges/p5 while in the msps, they take fuel away to give more power?

so because of that, i would think that using the msp maps would pull more fuel away from an already lean state...

so the question is... what is the best setup for NA guys other than StandAlone?

i was thinking of getting the AEM F/I Contorller myself...

i think a standalone would be the only way to really get around the ecu's control on closed loop...im actually not sure how the afc would work in an na setup though

Hey guys decided to come back to the forum to see whats going on. I have a 99 lx 1.6 that I boosted almost a year ago now, I installed the valve body a while ago as well as an aux tranny cooler and royal purple atf. Running 8lbs and the car pulls very nicely, so far no issues, phew. What I'm trying to do now is find out if anyone has any info on how to toggle lock up manually. Had this idea with a friend a few days ago and did some research online. On many cars/trucks you can splice into a wire and just toggle weather or not you wish the converter to lock up or not. Of course this is not helping the life of the tranny but it would be nice to get some more power out of 4th gear instead of having it lock almost immediately. If anyone has any info it would be great. Thanks.
