Hope for us Auto Guys yet...

i might get these instead of the Lentech Street Terminator ($2k)... and since you're boosting... it should hold whatever i put into it... i'm going NA for autoX and spraying at the drag strip... should be around 200hp... i just want a 13 second DD car... is that asking too much??

asmo-perhaps links to the store/website?

B&M part #70264 . I use that one on my boosted automatic protege. It comes with everything you need to install. I would suggest to get a little extra hose. My temps stay around 130-150 degrees.
Where are you measuring temps at?

I have a temp sendor on the HOT and the COLD lines (with a toggle switch in the dash to switch between them). With the aux cooler after the integrated radiator cooler, I'm seeing COLD side temps around 125-150 while the HOT side is 180-230. But what's weird is that I was just seeing 230 driving around tonight- it's in the mid 60's out right now and I was on the freeway doing 65 mph. That seems like a lot of heat to be generated inside the transmission cruising at 65 on a cool night. I guess the good news is that the aux cooler was rejecting a little more than 80 degrees of heat at the time.

I got the temp sender in the trans pan. Thats where it is recommended to go. The sender is mounted in place of the drain bolt.

What did you need to put it in the drain plug? Does one of those extra fittings that come with the gauge fit the drain plug?

bazooka joe finally chimes in! prolly the fastest auto on here! thanks for all the pix and info!

Hehe, he is one of the fastest autos around here. I think I would give him some competition. To bad he's a good deals away from me, be interesting to compare both cars at the track.

I guess I'll subscribe to this since Tom directed me over here. Other than stalking the FS section, I don't get on here much (TMF is where I'm at 99% of the time) but this thread looks promising, and unlike 90% of the posts I see here this thread seems headed in the right direction.

So I guess it's time I chime in here.

I'm also one of the few turbo automatic P5 owners (tiptronic tranny does help with boosting) and I just joined the dark side a couple weeks ago. It's a blast, and I could never go back. I'm running 6 psi probably around 160 HP.. same as bazooka_joe. But you do gotta pay to play. Monitoring your temps, pressures, etc. with proper gauges is a MUST, or you'll be left without an engine or tranny real fast. Leaks pop up here and there and if they're not noticed on time it can get ugly.. Also, you have to use higher grade gas and make sure you're changing the fluids on time, cuz s*** gets hot and oil breaks down a lot faster. So even regular maintenance costs more now, but it's ok cuz the extra ponies are well worth it :)

My setup is the MSP GT25R turbo with the MSP (Callaway) turbo mani and s-pipe & j-pipe. Highflow MAM midpipe and Racing Beat catback. Sounds amazing.. The intake and FMIC pipes were all custom but they work pretty good for the most part, and the intake sounds SUPER LOUD!!

Other than that, I was going to install the Lentech valve body upgrade but the one I bought turned out to be an OEM Mazda6 valve body. Some douche bag from Mazda6 club came here after totaling his car and sold an OEM body as Lentech. I ended up buying it (bazooka ALMOST did, but I beat him to it..) and then a year later finally got my money back after he scammed some Subaru guys and having all of us team up on him. But that's definitely still a mod that's on my list, because shifts take way too long without them and I would really like to minimize the wear on my transmission. I have a detailed How-To with pictures for this install on TMF but since the admins of this forum are gay I can't link it or any of the pics from that site.. so sorry guys.

And as for the tranny cooler, it's a must whether you're turbo or not. I've had one for the past two years and my tranny is completely cooled by it. I don't use the stock radiator at all, it all goes through the cooler. Bought it at Advance Auto for like $50, I think it's a Hayden and it comes with everything you need for install. It's really easy, you mount it on the AC condenser behind the grille using the supplied straps and hook up the hoses to the tranny.. that's it. I have pics, but as I said the gay rules of this forum prevent me from posting them.

And finally a question about the tranny temp sensor (this is directed at SIBalla). I would really like to see a pic of the sensor in the drain plug. I was gonna install mine that way, but it didn't look like there was a lot of room for it in front of the drain plug.

krayzie fox, can you send me PM with a link to your build.

I'll be attempting to turbo my atx within the next month.

so far i've got lined up is msp turbo mani, msp turbo, and s-pipe, stock msp intercooler piping and hopefully a SS AFC.

I'll probably pick up a lentech in a couple of weeks as i'm only a 30 min drive away from them.

(Lentech VB GB anyone?)

I've done the whole intake header exhaust bit, but it's still a slowtege, I can't even keep up with a toyota FJ. sad...

I've decided to leave the turboing alone until I finish college. Then it's MS3 here I come and Turbo Auto P5 project car FTW. Who knows? I may even do a tranny swap.... ZOMG did I just say that?

(Lentech VB GB anyone?)

Umm YES PLEASE!! If they're willing to do it, but I doubt they will be. I contacted them about trying to save some money by sending them my extra core and having them NOT send the solenoids in hopes of saving some money, but they pretty much dicked me around and threw a whole bunch of B.S. my way in hopes of getting rid of me.. which they did. So for that reason I highly doubt Lentech will be willing to give ANY type of discount.

As for the build, I'd gladly PM the links but once again.. the admins of this forum decided to be homos and disable that as well. So here's what I'll do.

To anyone interested in checking out my turbo install or if you'd like to see the how-to on installing the valve bodies, copy and paste these links without the spaces. I'll also include a link that shows how my tranny cooler is installed.

Those links should have a whole lot of info about turboing an automatic. The BEGi RRFPR and FM o2 clamp are by far the easiest and most affordable route to do fuel management on an automatic. The FPR is a piece of cake (see my how-to) and the o2 clamp requires a vacuum line and splicing of 4 wires (follow LAST page instructions of Flyin Miata's document).

If I could find a cheap wrecked 5-speed I would do it in a heart beat. But trying to source all the parts one by one.. forget it.
