honda haters?

Yeah..when we went up to higher boost with custom made pully's we just kept blowning head gaskets. I changed 2 in one day at the track. I had full ductile iron sleeves, copper o-rings, arp head studs, alond with other stuff and tried nemerous type of head gaskets and no luck. We even went to custom made pistons. It we came to the conclusion that the boost was hitting so hard the cylinder pressure was so great that it streched the head studs.

I was using a custom 3 inch pulley by aspracing.com
I never had problems with the head gasket, i was still using the factory head gasket. The bottom end gave out at 180,000 miles. Meaning, that was still the factory 180,000 gasket. Guess I just lucked out. (laugh) The bottom end and everything else was bone stock.

It lasted a year and 2 months on stock injectors, a 5:1 FMU and no tunning. Finally blew it up racing yet another mustang on the highway, after the motor blew up, it still pulled on 3 cylinders. Neat stuff. The block is in front of my apartment with a beer bottle in the hole in the block. Cost of new D16 bottom end? $100.

D15B7's own

This is the reason I can respect civics. They are true grassroots racecars if done correctly.

I live in the land of Civic Juxtaposition. 85% of the modded Civics on the street are worthless. However the other 15% represent some SICK speed.
I have a friend with 2 Hatchs and I would never ever ever try to race either one. The 94 is Turbo'd and looks almost stock to the untrained eye and runs mid to low 12's easy. We have some great in car videos of assholes in Mustangs and F-bodies getting walked by that car. The best video is of a Passenger in a Ram Air T/A waving to them right before they get on it, as if to say "bye". The Civic's passenger was sure to wave like an asshole right back when they hit third gear and pulled away. Those are the guys that deserve respect, the guys building $4500 13 second cars in their garage.

Yeah my builder was an Aerospace engineer so he designed it on CAD and had it CNC machined. They also made a 20psi pully but we never got to those heights. (laugh) When I blew the stock motor it was sick. A hole big enough you could put your fist in it. The rod basically desinigrated. The oil pan looked like someone was inside with a little hamer trying to beat them selves out! :D

Now that I'm thinking about it, I'm kinda pissed. I'll never own another car that runs 14's and gets 42mpg. Damn...:(

i love civic's eg's, ek's, ep's all of them but my favorite is the ek hatch i love those cars when civic are done right i think there is no beating them for the price you can pick up a used hatch for as cheap as 2k with perfect paint and body and swap in an itr or ctr and have one of the fastest damn street cars around.

i guess i'm an og honda guy...been modding preludes since the late 80s (had an 85 had upgraded the stock carbs, etc.)...later a 92 si lude

in 1996 i helped build a h22a 92 civic dx sedan (one of the 1st on the east coast)...had to get welded motor mounts and do lots of cutting/welding and clearing room for the big boy

over the years i've done some 20 swaps, helped build some autox, drag, road race cars (mostly featherweight crxs)...even had an ole 88 hf with teg gsr discs, 14b turbo d16a6 gutted...1800lbs, 2000 with me in it

this pr5 is the 1st non honda i've bought in a while (i have to admit its fun to drive and a wagon which was my aim...but it's got all these little problems not related to boosting it but it is still running strong)...haters are in every category...only car company i hate is ford who has so many questionable safety recalls and thousands dead (pinto, bronco, explorer, etc.)

Don't tell me you helped Norris of NuImage (Type R Racing) on that H22 and then running it down @ 50! (evil)

nah...this was a one off deal at the time and i never even met Norris (i'm not a drag racer at heart and don't go to any of the NOPI or NHRA events...this little h22 civic would run low 13s on street tires...eventually it would run in the Quick VIII but i lost track of them as i focused on road racing)
