I was trying to find a parking spot at a near by mall, and this prelude comes flying out in reverse and nails me! He smashed my front passenger door and slid across from the back door all the way to the rear bumper, he even slid across my back rim. Man, i was so pist off I even had my wife and son with me, thats what got me even more pist off. Everything is cool now, his insurance is covering all damages with no problem.....so heres my question to you guys/gals, I wanted to get a new paint job anyway so what color do you think I should get? My color is silver right now, and I was thinking of the Orange on the original Mazdaspeed Protege? The body shop Im taking it to will go ahead and paint the car whatever color I choose and not tell the insurance, well tell them there painting it silver of course. If you have any ideas on paint color let me know, thanx

Ill try and post pics soon, the car looks so screwed up!

That really sucks. This time of year is really dangerous for cars around malls. People are just f****ng oblivious. At least it was a low speed incident and your family is ok.

I'd get the same Titanium the 03.5s MSPs have. I think they have that option for Australian P5s, there was a pic of it somewhere, looked really nice.

I like the idea of painting it titanium also.. the orange mica would make the wagon look 10 times bigger.. but on the plus side, you may be more visible in traffic at the mall parking lot. :D

Titanium or Spicy Orange would look awesome on a P5. The spicy might attract too much attention...the titanium is subdued enough to blend in, but different enough to stand out (if that makes any sense)

Sucks about the accident, but the paint shop is being very cool... changing the paint color is a more difficult job than repainting the same color.

With that said, I have always wanted the P5 in Spicy Orange, and I have always thought if I was in a similar situation as you I would have the car repainted, so I say go for it, and then post A LOT of pics!

Man, that titanium color looks sweet!! Its either the titanium or the spicy orange.....cant decide.....cant decide...ill let you guys know what i do later this week. I have to meet up with the insurance friday to look at the damages then take it to the shop. yeah im glad the family is ok, i would have done something crazy if they would have gotten hurt!

i saw one of the new Mazda 3's in their new orange color. that might look sweet...but like someone else said...definately an attention grabber. :D

Uhm... isn't the colour of your car listed on your ownership/proof of registration? Would it not be a bad thing to get pulled over and the cop asks you why the colour of the car you're driving doesn't match what it says on your ownership/registration?

Silver looks close enough to titanium. Not to mention, people change car colors all the time....especially on classic cars. Here in MD color is not listed on the registration card....I don't know of too many states that do that. The paint code is usually on the door jamb along with the VIN code.

never thought about that......im sure theres a way to change that. If anyone knows, say something.....

I've known a lot of guys who have gotten their cars painted different colors following an accident. As long as the insurance company agrees to the estimated cost and the body shop is cool with it then you aren't breaking any laws. It wouldn't be any different than if your bumper got smashed and you bought an aftermarket bumper and had the body shop put it on.

As to what to tell a cop, as long as the plates are legit and so is the VIN what's he gonna do? Arrest you? If he wants you to go to the DMV and have them change the color of your car in their database you say ok officer, thank you I'll do that right away. Once again you aren't breaking any laws by changing the color of your car.
