Every time I drive in any rain (light/heavy/wet road) I hydroplane over 55 mph. Not only does this scare the s*** out me when I least expect it, but is dangerous as well. I have the stock dunlop tires on with good tread left on them. Car only has 27k on it. Does tire pressure effect this. i have mytire pressure a little low, 22-25psi with the max being 51psi does this effect it? Also what is the next step up in tires, but not overly expensive?

yeah, the sp5000's are terrible in rain when they are over 50% worn.....you really have to take it easy.

yoko AVS 100's are nice but they are summe tires.

Wrong. The stock Dunlops NEVER had good tred on them. They have eeeeeevil tread. Buy new tires ASAP and be happy.

Look into Fuzion zri's and Yokohama AVS ES 100's, they're both very good and pretty cheap.

And the ES 100's are summer tires, but everyone I've talked to said they're great in the snow. Not as good as dedicated snow/ice tires, but definatly enough to get around town.

Us more Northern folks are pretty happy w/ the Falken ZIEX 512s. The stock Dunlops are crap. :p Oh, and I run 35psi in the Falkens.

Get new tires man. Seriously. That would be a good investment. I had the same problem with mine, especially once i got some miles on them. I replaced mine at about the same milage as you have right now. I mean stock tires are allright, but if you, god forbid, get an unfixable flat you will most likely have to buy an entire new set anyway, since the dunlops are not it production anymore, plus they are very overpriced. When i had to get one a couple of years back they were like 145$ per tire or so. Very overpriced. if i were you i would also get a wider tire like a 205 and 205/50/16 size is a great protection from new england pot holes not to mention it fills the wheel gap better making it less apparent on a car that was not dropped.
Not only new tires will be better in the rain, they will also increase the handling significantly. Good luck in your decision.

hey ryan, I was referring to ArchPro's first post. Yeah, I run mine at 35.

Sp5000s are Great if you live somewhere where it never rains .... I live in vegas and you would think that I'd love them, but every time it rained, I used to shudder.

Got some Falken Azenis ST115s now though, and have loved them ever since

I guess the concensus is the Falken's. Good all purpose tires? what is the mileage rating 40k-50k?

I would say 30k or less, but it depends on how you drive. I've seen people here getting 40k out of their stock dumbflops while some trashed them in 15k. Yes, the Falkens are soft (V-rated).

I'm about to buy new summer tires, probably going to get Kumho Ecsta ASX (195/50/16) to stay stock. Kinda anal about mileage accuracy and that s***...

that and the ASX are a bit cheaper than the AVS 100, which would be my other choice

I vouch for the Yoko's for rain. of course, I have not had the fun of snow here in Florida, so I recommend a snow tire, or the Falkins that others recommend.
