Hockey pucks?

Thanks for posting those pictures pcb, I think I will look into finding some material like that for my mounts.

For me its not just about saving a 100 bucks, I really just don't like replacing parts that I feel should have lasted longer and performed better without upgrading. The P5 I bought only has 89k on it. Both the front and rear mounts are completely destroyed, the torque and trans mounts are also starting to look pretty bad.
Say what you want about hockey puck mounts but I have personally seen a single set used on 3 different motor swaps and hold up to over 300,000 miles of abuse.
True they don't absorb much vibration but they do everything else much better than stock mounts, and ever outperform a lot of aftermarket mounts I have tried.

I'm currently about half way through the engine and trans rebuild on this p5, I plan on driving it for a long time and I just don't feel like its smart to put a part in that has already proven to be prone to failure. If I'm going to spend 100 bucks on mounts then I'm going to spend it trying to find a solution to what I see as a problem with the car.

Unless you've got a short-shifter or intend to put one in, this might be another component you might wanna consider fabricating.

These two little bushings are now $39 which could easily go past $100 all in shipped to Canada.

Actually the CS bronzoil bushing kit includes all 4 bushings for the stock shift rod, not just 2. And it comes in a nice package with excellent instructions. I highly recommend them. Making your own doesn't exactly sound like fun to me. If it costs $60 to ship a tiny box to Canada then I know for sure I'm on the right side of the border.

I only made the two bushings for the end under the shift knob and lucked out by finding two bushings in my box of parts and pieces that only had to be drilled out.

It's not so much the tax or shipping to Canada but the damn duty,... my sister got a "free" magazine from the US, $14 duty. My friend got a "free" sweatshirt,... $40 duty. My neighbor was charged $900 on a racing axle at the border (although he was trying to sneak it across so they threw the book at him.)

Rockauto does a great job and works with FedEx so there is never any surprise at the door. They charge all taxes and do it by the book so the duty police don't have to inspect their shipments.

You definitely live on the right side of the border.

In reply to the window well mount idle question: the interior does have its rattles and shakes because of the filled mounts, but its not completely bone rattling.

Just to add useless info to the thread, using hockey pucks is a very common and accepted practice on RX7s, or atleast for sure the first gens. Their engine mounts a bit differently though, and actually rests on the pucks and sandwiches them in place.
