so im about to get a BOV/BPV and i was wondering what the difference between HKS SSQV vs like an adjustable spring like forge or greddy. Does it make a difference in tunning the car down the road or what?

Thanks for your help!

I've had turbosmart (piston/spring), forge (piston/spring), and now hte HKS... I love the HKS and am VERY happy to be honest. I am running it in vTA actually and it runs really well considering....it is rich between shifts, but it runs overlal a lot better than the TS in hybrid from what i remember

i see the same boost stock bpv vs hks.... am i am boosting 20 psi.

The reason the stocker can 'leak' in the upper rpm is due to the throttle plate closing. Keep it open and it holds just fine. The reason aftermarket ones 'hold more boost' is because the spring is stiffer and harder to vent, so in the upper rpms it wont vent as much. Bottom line is the stocker works fine, the throttle plate is what causes problems and the boost to drop off in upper rpms for the most part. With that said, I really llike the HKS and wouldn't trade it for any others (but the Turbosmart does sound the best IMO)

you addressed what i was thinking about. thank you. and those are the BOV im looking at turbosmart or hks form pg, im thinking im doing hks, i have always heard good things!

HKS FTW!!!! (2thumbs)
Who the hell wants to mess with springs and adjustment screws...? (notcool)

HKS SSQV will hold up to 30 PSI max.

if you wanna save money and have an almost stock looking bov that you gotta worry about having the right combo of springs/shims in then get the forge. also you gotta be down for it's unique sound. To me, I didnt wanna have to worry about adjusting anything, nor did I wanna chance it with the sound so I got the hks, and I love it and the way it holds boost, sounds, looks, and feels driving around town. Plus, I cant think of anyone going over 30psi on this motor so an hks will last you a long time and be a good BOV for any setup.
