Hitting bump stop on small speed bumps?!?!?

Good morning Folks! Got a quick question, I have recently noticed that when taking smaller speed bumps my 08 speed 3 seems like the front right shock is hitting the bump stop, but only on the drivers side. I took it to the dealership and the lead mechanic confirmed he feels it as well, taking it in tomorrow for a diagnosis.

Has anyone experienced this or am I am the only one so far? Could it be the valving in the shock or something else? I am concerned it is something more sinister, but I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Any advice would be helpful!

ya i have that same problem too... i live in an apartment complex that has 2 speed bumps going towards my apt, and it really bothers me that the car just slams down, if i take it at an angle it doesnt seem as bad tho

WOW, so basically this is not something new! Anyone notice any difference in drivability maybe even a little understeer when taking a hard corner on that side?

let me now if the problem goes with the suspension, I noticed the same noise in my speed and for my experience that noise come from the engine mounts

i have the same issue with my speed3..its like that one shock is dead.the d/s strut...i took it to the dealer 2weeks ago and had them look at it... the head tech said he didnt feel it and didnt see any sign of oil which indicates a busted shock.but he didnt ride over any bumps or dips in the street..we could be looking at a recal here peeps..i have speed bumps in my housing complex as well and i always feel it there..

Same prob here, damn annoying having to go over speed bumps
almost at a full stop.

So i dropped the car off this morning with the lead Mazda Technician at my dealership. Got a call back later this afternoon seems like Mazda wants to put on a new control arm, seems like one of the bushings may have leaked or ruptured. Tomorrow I will get more details and hope get her back. My fear is that all will be put back together and will work correctly with no more issues.

I will keep you guys posted on my new adventure with my speed3!

happens with me and my pro, the reason why its only on the drivers side is just b/c that your sitting there, the 150lbs matters, when i have someone in my back seats it does the same thing...

I am a little concerned about the changing out of stock parts in such a new car, but I am hoping that this will be a one time thing.

Even with me sitting in the passenger seat the passenger side did not exhibit the same issue.

Anyone know if i should push for an alignment to be done?

wow so now everybody here needs to go now to the dealerships to replace their control arm, there all broken?,,,

Please keep us post

It's funny but I have exactly the same problem. When I go just a bit too fast over the speed bump, it seems as if the shocks are shot...

I thought this was normal. I might have to take it to the dealer and get it checked out.

I initially thought that this was also normal after speaking to a few other speed3 drivers, but upon second thought my fear got the best of me and I would hate to be taking a hard corner and have something fail on me.

Hopefully I will hear back from the dealership in a couple of hours. I will indeed keep everyone posted.

If they replace a control arm, they should do an alignment on their own. Maybe ask ahead of time to see if it is part of their procedure for suspension repair, and if by chance it's not, ask that it be done to "confirm/return to factory specs" or something along those lines.
