When we last left our hero, his blue MP3 was once again shiny and beautiful after spending almost two months in a out-of-state body shop. The damage done by the Nissan that wailed into it was repaired and it was driving great...for a week!
This morning around 4am, my wife wakes me out of a much needed beauty sleep by yelling my name. I stumble out of bed, toss on some jeans and come out to the living room to find her talking to 911 on her cell phone.
It seems that a Nissan had sideswiped the MP3 which I had parked outside at the curb last night. Then they drove off.
My neighbors also heard the crash (I didn't...I was asleep in the back of the house) and ran out to see 4 guys in a beige Nissan take off. Living on an island has it's advantages, since there are only two ways off. They (not from around here) didn't know that and tried to run. Six police cars later, they were stopped, checked for DWI (nope) and the driver arrested for hit and run (leaving the scene of an accident). They searched the car for guns, drugs, kidnapped children, or anything else that they could nail them with...and found vitamins. Vitamins? The Nissan is a rental. The cop (very nice - to me) was sorry that they didn't find anything. He would have hit the jackpot.
So as the sun comes up on another day here on a Pleasant Valley Sunday, I have an MP3 in need of a new driver's side fender, new doors, new lower body kit and probably a new door pillar (again).
Sigh. I feel sick.
I'm off - (in the Durango) - to be entertaining on the radio. It's what I do. More later.
